The MMO Albion Online is heading to Steam

This is reaaaaaally suspicious. Sounds like they want to use this opportunity to sell the game twice.

As for me this might get me to try this game. I really don't want to have games outside Steam if I can help it - unless it's something of major interest.

HTC Vive PRO HMD pre-orders open, standard Vive has price drop

These days the graphics card prices are inflated by the ridiculous crypto mining craze. Once that's over I'll upgrade my rig and get me a regular Vive. The second hand price on those have dived down to a quite reasonable level now.

Then I'll game the sh*t out of everything we got for VR so far :)

Doom (2016) could have been on Linux, id Software made a Linux version sound easy to do

Quoting: BeamboomOh dear how much ridiculous speculation I find here, presented as facts. I don't even know where to start, but an idea doesn't automatically transform into reality, guys.
Have you never been to the Intertubes before? It's the magical place where every Dick and Jane is an expert, and opinions trump are better than facts.
Oh I have, but I did hold the Linux community in higher regards. That was... Until I met the Linux gamers.
I mean, seriously. I too can enjoy a good speculation now and then, but then I don't present it as facts, I don't state "this is how it is" and pretend to sit with the answers when I have zero actual insight.

A fact can always be backed by evidence, guys. Everything else are speculations.

It's working almost perfectly. I'm working in it from 4.15. Now it's 4.19 already.
Fully featured, fully functional, nothing lost by using Linux? If so there's been quite the progress over the last year or so. Great!

Serious Sam's Bogus Detour is being pirated with permission from the developer

Quoting: EikeWhere did you release those?
Release? :D Dude that wasn't even an idea that struck my mind. This is pre-"indie" era, you had to have a distributor. And my games were nothing to release, they are just a few hours worth of coding, to try out stuff. Games with logic like Pac-Man, Snake, Caterpillar etc. Ridiculously simple logic based on positioning, with enemy movement responding to your position.

It really was nothing to bother the masses with at all. :)

Quoting: g000hThat's a bit harsh. It is one of these retro-style pixel-art games, like "Enter The Gungeon" or "Hammerwatch".
Well, I do have similar thoughts about a good deal of those releases using the "retro" label as a shield against criticism. The game mechanics/"ai" here - all judged by the video - looks like one of the games I wrote as a hobby project while still in school. I think we are too forgiving as soon as someone take claim of the "retro" label.

To be honest... This looks like a game that should be free to begin with. Something that's made in one of those semi automatic "game maker" apps.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is officially coming to Linux, port from Feral Interactive

Steam could just as well implement a system where one can simply subscribe to a developer. Auto-purchase anything put out by them.

I'd just throw Feral in there and be done with it.
