The problem with relying these kind of things on the readers, is that nobody has played all the titles nominated - far from it. So in fact it becomes a popularity contest instead. For example, I bet my left arm that the only reason Hitman won best graphics is cause that's the game of the nominees that most own and has played. And sadly, I think that will be the case for several of the winners.
And I know I myself am guilty of this. There's even many nominated titles that I'd not even heard of before. Obviously they'd never get my vcote, even if deserved.
This is why I still firmly argue that you, Liam, should decide the most important categories, and have dedicated "readers awards" on just a few. Why? Cause you've played them all. Simple as that. You have a much, much better perspective on this than any average reader will.

Quoting: GuestObviously you don’t have a clue about what you’re talking about.Enlighten me, then. What's the glaring problem here that I struggle with seeing? The religious aspect of it?

My point is that being so anal about DRM is almost comical, when they don't have anything against installing binaries on their system they know nothing about. Especially when we talk about Steam-based DRM: The theoretical chance of Steam suddenly disappearing and leaving games unplayable is so hypothetical we could just as well start talking about the chance of the internet being nuked out of existence.

Quoting: GuestDRM and spyware are two different things. That wasn't really the point now, was it.

Bah - DRM blablabla - not to start another discussion on that topic but it's a closed binary blob you're putting on your PC. It could contain all the spyware in the world and still be "drm free" should they want to.
This release is a nobrainer to support, guys. Seriously.

So TOTALLY purchased. Installing as I type.
This is what indies are for. Looks absolutely stunning, and the looks of it reminds me of something that could have come from Thatgamecompany, the devs who are behind the fantastic little gems Flow, Flower and Journey on the PS3.

Quoting: 14I beat Crysis, and the feel of it was good, but I didn't like the game itself too much. Never bought the sequels because of thatOh man you missed out, Crysis 2 was SO much better! The first was fun too, by all means, but the rather generic tropical island setting never did it for me. The sequel though... Ah man that was quite the experience!

But yeah, of course I could boot a windows drive. If I was really at loss of things to play I could possibly do so. But then I'd be all over Fallout 4 instead. Or GTA 5. Or The latest Dragon Age. Or Mass Effect. Or Player Unknown... Or... Yeah you get my point. :)

Quoting: razing32I get that , it's your opinion and I respect it , but ... this is Free to Play. Sure micro transactions help you progress and travel faster but they are not needed.Wine is, for me at least, one giant stack of failed attempts. That's my Wine experience summarized. :D
Still. Up to you.

Oh man - don't get me started on what i WOULD have played, had I started running Windows binaries again. I'd then rather just dual boot into Windows, but yeah... Heck I'd even play Anarchy Online again, if I could.
However, I stay firm:
No tux? No bux!
But there's that vampire MMO planned that Liam has written about a couple of times. I really, really look forward to that one. At the very least it's something else than the cookie-cutter fantasy theme. If done right, I might love it just for being different.

Quoting: razing32Well , if you can get it running in Wine , Secret World Legends might be enjoyable to you.Yeah I know of it, it did look really cool.
The PVE campaign was fun , and the atmosphere and world were great fun.

But either way, this engine is capable of some really spectacular visuals. I sincverely hope they will achieve some traction on this baby.

It's probably just me though, but had it been PVE it's been a different matter.
But I'm waiting for a futuristic/sci-fi/cyberpunk themed action MMO with a rich, dark atmosphere, primarily PVE based. Think Shadowrun type universe. Good old Anarchy Online is another good reference. Or even Star Wars Galaxies.
Or, if it has to be a "old times" setting , then NOT fantasy but rather a gothic/steampunk type setting.
Exploration is a core feature, complex crafting, tons of options to create your character both in regards to looks and skills.
Oh man.. The mere thought made me drool.

Quoting: liamdawePersonally, I like it. Everyone has different tastes and while I like realistic graphics, I also appreciate the more cartoony and friendly styles some go for.I don't mind the art style in itself, it's the combination with PVP (players killing each other) in a "kids game" that irks me. It looks like a children's game. It could be a childrens game, aesthetically. I can't really explain why, but instinctively it feels like there's something wrong in that picture.

Quoting: razing32I'll bite. What's "your" MMO ? :PHaha it wasn't meant as a bait :D
