Quoting: Alm888Do you want a wager? I like the idea!Let's keep this on topic. Lara Craft. I bet it will come in 2018. Do you bet against? I raise the pot if we say within the next two years.

Well, it's the combination of several factors, that Gearbox is behind one of my absolute favourite franchises (Borderlands), and the extreme volume of indies in total so getting picked out is really a big deal, and finally that I absolutely love what little we've seen so far. Lovely setting, fantastic art style... I am very happy they now have the resources to make something real out of this, instead of being just another short indie title with great potential.

Quoting: SamsaiI am not 100% serious here but is Gearbox's judgement really all that reliable? :PHehe :)

It's meaningless to have a vote on "best music" when those who vote haven't heard 90% of the music they are supposed to have an opinon on. It's fundamentally meaningless.

Quoting: liamdaweThe fact is though, no matter what way you do a voting system, it boils down to popularity.... And that is precicely why I argue against voting in these kind of things. A "readers favourite" voting suffice in this context, the rest should be decided by people (in our case: you) who have actually played the games.

If only we had much more games from the $50 AAA tier, I'd not have a single complaint...

Quoting: razing32Maybe gameplay got refined. Still price remains at 50 .... And that's a perfectly fine price for a fully sized AAA quality campaign release. There are reasons to believe Gearbox has boosted the progress of this game into becoming more than initially planned.

Love the idea, the setting, sounds like fantastic voiceover work... But very unsure about the aesthetics. If only that style had been mixed with "regular" graphics, like this was a simulation or something (seems it is so with the transformation to a spider anyways?) it could be awesome. Maybe trying the demo will put doubs aside. Cause I sure love the rest!

THIS right here is my most anticipated Linux game for 2018. The mere fact that Gearbox picked this one up in the sea of indies and decided to back it indicates that this is something extraordinary.
Can't wait! I really can't.

Looked cool, but very odd movement in that you can only turn 90 degrees and advance like on a game board. Wonder what the reasoning is behind this odd design decision? To emulate a board game?

And it is a prerequisite for any form of educated judgement in a category that the panel members at least have played all the nominees, preferably quite extensive too.
But could Liam scramble together a team for some of the categories? Well of course, if he see so fit. I'd LOVE to be part of a RPG panel, I'd even buy the eventually missing games in order to qualify. :D

Quoting: PhlebiacNothing against Liam and his opinions, but I think it's better to have input from all of the "editorial staff" to balance things out.If - IF - this indeed was a traditional staff I'd be 100% behind you. But let's face it, GOL is Liam + a handful minor freelancers. Liam does like 98% of the editorial content of this site ( I don't think that's a big exaggeration even).

It's what I've stubbornly argued for the last couple of years. :)
An award like this under a bit more editorial control would just lift it up to the level it deserves to be. It would make it so much more interesting if there were well argued reasoning behind the winners (and even the nominees).
An example of a category where a reader voting could work, is "most anticipated" - that's something many can have an opinion of as long as they read GOL regularly. But as for those categories that requires every nominee to have been played - we better leave that to the one guy amongst us who has. :)
With the first already been released for Linux and Feral also sitting on Rise Of for Mac plus hints of them preparing a Linux release, I'd say it's a bit more than just wishful thinking even though it's not officially confirmed yet. It's just a question of when, as far as I'm concerned. And considering the age of the game, I'd say they would be wise in giving it priority.

Quoting: GuestThat is why I didn't bother voting. I usually play a couple of games during the year, but put a lot of hours in each.Exactly.
I think that GOL should just give out these rewards without voting and maybe add one "User Choice" category for most popular game.

Quoting: Alm888"Rise of the Tomb Raider" should be excluded from the list entirely!I think you should calm down a bit too :)
