Crazy cyberpunk horror game 'observer' is coming to Linux on October 24th

I'm so totally gonna buy it and never get past the tutorial phase, like I always do with scary games. I'm scared even before it gets scary.

Quoting: kibblesI have given HB a fair amount of sales and I gave it to them on principle. Now that IGN is in the mix I will stop buying from them altogether for the same reasons.
Why does it matter to you who sits in the board, if they still operate like before? (genuine question, not meant rhetorical)

Pfft, natural progression. Humble has for a long time already swung towards the big players. And it's just an online store (although wrapped in a cute wrapping). The only thing we can be worried about after IGN acquiring them is continuing Linux support. But even that support has long been dwindling anyway.

Natural progression, plain and simple.

Stop it, guys. You're killing me. Killing me!

Quoting: TeqI'll reiterate my previous advice: I don't think VR is ready for a pure Linux user. There are too few good games and too many technical bugs. Now if you'll be happy with only a couple of games, Croteam is working hard to give them to you (and they should be commended for their effort).
Thanks Teq, yeah that's my impression I got from reading the replies from you guys.

It's a shame and horrible to admit, but I do feel a slight hint of wish to return to Windows gaming. Only in brief moments mind you, and only very weak blips, but they do appear whenever I read about VR.

Ten thousand indie games (a week) just can't outweigh this.

Oh I need no sales pitches on VR in itself, I'm sold on the idea since I first saw the Star Trek holodeck when I was a kid.

It's VR on Linux I am trying to stay updated on. The Vive only gets cheaper while I wait, and without games to play or proper performance it's worth waiting.

Regarding movement: Do I HAVE to use the room tracking, can't we use just the head gear and the two controls while sitting?

Quoting: TeqSerious Sam is one of the few Steam VR experiences that has worked well for me in Linux. I am as excited about Talos Principle VR as any VR experience I've had so far.
So Teq, you're a Vive owner then I presume? What's the current status on that, and VR on Linux? Both in regards to the SteamVR software and the games themselves?

I'd love to read an update on that.

Looks like a Linux version of A Hat in Time might actually be coming

A good demonstration that public statements from the developer is not always the gospel truth. Obviously, but good to be reminded.
Public statements/press releases are essentially marketing and should be treated as such.

RUINER for Linux is now officially on hold (UPDATED)

If I am to follow my gut feeling I actually do believe that despite all this chaos, this thing will eventually come to Linux too.

And I'm not the overly optimistic one when it comes to these things. But in this particular case? My money is on "yes".
