... But do we need to start a new game in order to access the content of this expansion, or will they pop up as new side quests?

NVIDIA 384.47 beta driver released, includes a fix for newer Feral titles
11 Jul 2017 at 12:10 pm UTC

Quoting: EhvisThe driver won't update over major versions automatically. You need to manually choose nvidia-384 and related packages to update.
Oh damn I wasn't aware of this! That explains a LOT from way back actually - lol!

Thanks!

Quoting: MakiI personally think Curators are the worst thing Valve could have added. There's no opt-out in seeing them except for blocking the UI-elements showing them.
They are of very variable quality yes - not much better than user "reviews" (generally speaking - not talking about you now Liam. Put down the ban hammer :) ).
I wish they instead could implement metascores as a filter factor on their service.

NVIDIA 384.47 beta driver released, includes a fix for newer Feral titles

Quoting: EhvisWhen you have it installed, the nvidia-settings package is basically a notifier for new driver versions because it updates to the latest version regardless of your current driver version.
I'm not sure I understood you there Ehvis, but I updated the nvidia-settings package now, but it still says NVIDIA Driver Version is at 381.22 under "X Server Information"?

I'm reading 'till my eyes are sore, but if I am not mistaken this seems to actually be a new action rpg! How about that, Expalphalog! We can both cheer now! :)

Quoting: ExpalphalogAnd, to be fair, I don't think either of those games fit the Action RPG mold very well either.
Yeah agreed. They are closer to strategy than action rpg imo, judging from the gameplay videos I've now seen.

Quoting: ExpalphalogI do understand your frustration - I am first and foremost a fan of Strategy games but I have loathed every single real-time strategy I have ever played so to see even classic turn-based series like Master of Orion jump to real-time combat disheartens me.
Here's the funny thing: When it comes to strategy, I too find turn-based to be excellent. The Xcom games are amongst my very favourites released for Linux so far, regardless of genre. Fantastic games.

But in a RPG I want to be immersed in the world! Not just the strategy. I want to explore, want to BE the character(s) that I am. And that's where the turn-based mechanics comes SO in the way. All of a sudden my characters are just pawns on a board. Breaks the flow for me, in RPGs.

Like, the Shadowrun games. LOVE the setting, love the atmosphere, the artwork, love everything. I'd so totally love to dive into that world, chat with NPCs, figure things out, explore the world and abilities and skill trees and all those things that makes a great RPG. But man, those interruptions when the game freeze! Kicks me out of the immersion every time. How I wish it was one fluid uninterrupted experience!

Quoting: iiariwhat would someone say is the last really good space real-time action-strategy RPG for Linux?
Well, you do have pure sci-fi strategy games that are realtime. But a really good realtime sci-fi RPGs? Not a single one. Not within how I define "RPG", at least. Nill!

And I just so happen to first and foremost be a sci-fi fan. Fantasy/medieval settings do not appeal to me. So yeah - the frustration is real. :D

I must admit one thing: I thought those two were indeed TB, so I haven't even bothered starting them (I do think I got one of them on my Steam account). So please accept my apologies, I do now stand clearly corrected. It was just so annoying to see the "thank god" right after I so sincerely was hoping for it not to be.

The turn-based releases are in vast majority still, and my frustrations over that fact still stands. But at least we don't have to go back to 2015 to find one.

I'm sorry, Expalphalog!

Quoting: MakiCalling someone egoistic for liking something you don't like...

Are you not seeing the irony here?
No. I refer to the above reply. Had we mainly been served non-turnbased gameplay I would not care one bit if this game was turn-based, I'd even applaud it just for the diversity. My backlog of action based RPGs would have been ridiculously long by now.

But pretty much every friggin' RPG and strategy game released for PC/Linux nowadays are turn-based. I don't even understand how it is possible. When was the last time we saw an action rpg of a decent quality? Must have been Torchlight 2? That's literary YEARS ago!
