Dying Light Major Patch Released, Still Abysmal On Linux

I'll wait until they finally fix the performance issues, the game looks great but not with the reported abysmal performance.
I do not consider frame rates of 30 / 40 with occasional drops to 15 /20 to be anywhere near playable, I don't buy high end graphics cards to be satisfied with low frame rates.
by the way, would I be able to play this game on high settings with a gtx680(2gb) ? I should really upgrade but $$.

Doesn't seem to be working here either, I opted in to the beta but when I try to install it shows the same message:
"Don't Starve Together Beta is not available on your current platform."
Kubuntu 14.10 here

The Witcher 2 Has A New Beta For Linux, The Improvements Are Staggering

This beta gets FPS to about 47 in outside areas (1080P, all settings max, UberSampling off) on my gtx680.
The FPS outside used to be 27/30 ish so that's a nice improvement. After enabling gl threaded optimizations the game runs at 60 fps outdoors :D. It's still nowhere close to the windows version but it looks like it's slowly getting there.

Verdun WW1 FPS Major Engine Update, Plus A Few Thoughts About The Game
18 Jan 2015 at 4:38 pm UTC
It's not that I'm fed up with the engine per se, it's more that I'm fed up with terrible performance which sadly seems to be related to the unity engine all too often.
That's why at the end I said I'd reconsider if they get it running well ;)
*edit* I just bought The Mims Beginning to see if the claims about it running well are true and guess what, they actually are :O
The game runs very well, so that's at least one early access title using unity that runs well ;)

Quoting: Xpanderi mostly agree with you on unity and terrible performance.Ah, you're right about those, I actually own Wasteland 2 myself and it runs really well.
but there are some that are made properly.. like Interstellar Marines which runs fairly good
Wasteland 2, Shadowrun and Cities in Motion 2

Verdun WW1 FPS Major Engine Update, Plus A Few Thoughts About The Game

Looking at the "Discussions" section of Verdun in steam and reading stuff like :
- Unity 5, v190, stuttering
- Extremely bad fps on gtx980
- i can t play v190
- Very low FPS ingame issue
- Game Crash
And my personal experience with Unity games early access and fully released, I'll pass on this one.
Seeing games using the Unity engine usually is an instant pass for me, I'm fed up with the terrible performance/crashing issues.
If they manage to get it playable (stable fps and no boot / crashing problems) I'll reconsider ;)

Looks great, as long as it doesn't use the Unity engine. (I've had my share of non working / terrible performing Unity games to be honest ).
I'll buy it for sure if this game turns out to be playable ;)

Windows Games On Linux, WINE & PlayOnLinux

Wine is the reason I was finally able to get rid of Windows. The one game that kept me using windows is World of Warcraft, which runs great for me using wine.
I've used play on Linux once or twice in the past but I'd rather just manually figure stuff out with wine. (I like messing around until something works the way I want it to ;) )

Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux Launch On Linux, Sorta (UPDATED)

Quoting: nspacestdVSync doesn't seem to work properly in 2033, not even by forcing it in the nVidia control panel. I've found a workaround [External Link] in the Arch Wiki that seems to fix the issue by forcing VSync at driver level but I'd like to know if anyone else is having the same problem.I'm using KDE's own Tearing Prevention (Vsync), works like a charm. I disable Vsync in all my games and just let KDE handle it.
Other than that it runs quite well at very high settings (2x SSAA).
I'm on Arch, with Cinnamon and nVidia GTX 770 (proprietary drivers).

Quoting: berillionsIt's a Nvidia driver bug. Use 343.x driver resolve the problem. That did the trick :D

Can't use the *very high* settings in both metro 2033 and metro last light redux, the game goes haywire and displays all sorts of graphical glitches. Anyone else with the same problem ?
other than that, both games run really well on my system, GTX680 driver 346.22
