installation folder. That is exactly where the dos version really saved aswell.
So I am assuming it's up to the game itself still.

Maybe the engine actually doesn't support Linux yet. It might still be in non working/poor state.
Otherwise there would be no issue in releasing a Linux version of their game would there?
One of the guys could even get his grandma to press the "Compile Linux" Button.
I call "bs" on them having the engine ready for linux.

Isn't this the same guy who did the Deadfall adventures and Painkiller HD ports? Pretty sure it is. I hope people don't have to wait 5mins every game launch to compile shaders.
Admittedly he fixed it for Nvidia cards on Painkiller. But never did for Deadfall.
Apart from that both ports run great for me. He does a good job.
Maybe he should ask Icculus how to ship games without needing the shaders to be compiled every time you play. None of the ports from Icculus have this problem at all.

Thankyou Cheeseness and Icculus, This is one of my favourite games ever made.
I had already bought it the moment it arrived on steam months ago. Figured I would 'wine' it
one day if a linux version didn't come. But now I don't have too.
I will buy a copy for linux for my partner and both our daughters.
Cheeseness, I am sooo jealous of your presskit!

Puppy Games Aren't Impressed With Linux Sales (UPDATED)

I own all four of their games from a bundle. I would never have bought them off steam, they don't look that good. I tried all of them, and I was right they arn't.
So I let each game idle to drop the cards and uninstalled them for good.
Also 12k just from linux games on steam, is probably pretty damn good. There are better games
on steam for linux for free.
Hint: Make games that are 10x better, and you will get 10x more sales.

I used it to get the files for Doom3bfg and 7daystodie. So I could use the data for native versions.

Quoting: EKRboiWhile wine and the like are great tools I really wish they were not "pushed" as a real solution to delvelopers and publishers of older and no longer developed apps/games instead of doing a true port. If it is a new game/app there is no excuse to not just do a native port especially if it is being ported to OGL for mac too. It gives the noobs a bad taste as perfomance is almost never on par (unless its older or already opengl (see RAGE)) and only cements the bad things these noobs have read or heard about linux. You can download windows games with steam. Easy as pie with Steamcmd.
Like I said in the steam hardware survey topic, just release the code for your older and not currently maintained titles and the awesome linux community will likely do most if not all of the leg work for you at little to no charge. Then we can just get the actual game content from our steam catalog or directly from the windows install disc(s). I would like to see steam for linux allow for the downloading of non linux games in my catalog for no other reason than to get the data. As an example, Doom3-BFG.. I needed the data for RBDoom3BFG once I compiled it.

For me it was unplayable until today. Now it plays great for me. Not quiet as good as windows, but perfectly playable. I have it set to high quality with vsync on and texture memory size set to very large. Playing it with a wireless xbox360 controller. Played for about 4hours so far.
Witcher 3 better be a native port! I won't buy a recent title that's been wrapped on purpose.
edit: I did turn ssao off. Dunno if it helps or not, I turn it off on every game in linux if it has it.
Manjaro 64bit kde
i74770k cpu
GTX660ti 2gb 340.24 driver
16gb ram

They probably wasted their time with this, we all love wrapped games now remember. As long as it works and all. Icculus will vanish into distant memory doing native ports like loki did. He needs stop this rubbish and start wrapping everything fast and cheap, so we can fill steam with glorious penguin icons.
Jokes aside, it's a good game! Glad they did this.
