I was then at a conference and I was talking with some people about potentially doing a D3D9 -> Vulkan layer and I was told that it “was a waste of time” and that I “couldn’t do it and should work on something else”.
This is how my only open source project ever to be finished (VDR Permashift) came to existence: They told me that those who want the feature are not able to do it and that those who could do it don't want it. Had to show 'em. :D

Quoting: PublicNuisanceSo long as I can attempt to run games at 60 FPS i'll be happy but if I am limited to 30 FPS without a way to change it then that's a huge dealbreaker for me.
I read you can choose that.

Quoting: Arcadius-8606Oddly enough, since I moved, my main gaming rig is a Raspberry Pi 4 B - 8 GB and my side machine is my laptop. I placed my laptop in the stats since I could not find a way to put the Raspberry Pi 4 B in. I'm probably the odd man out doing that so no biggie, just thought I would share.
How do you run... anything on it? As it's not x86?

Quoting: whizseThough I'm doubtful that there's any big breakthroughs coming. Wine and Proton development usually happens at a pretty sustained pace.
They explicitly said they've got stuff not shown yet. I don't believe in "everything", but "most new" would be great already.

Quoting: EikeWhere's the "Did you preorder Steam Deck?" question?!? ;)
We don't really want to have a question like that up, because it would eventually be null. We need to think a bit more on how to word it and what options to give.

Open to suggestions.

The Valve Steam Deck, lots of excitement and plenty to think about for Linux gaming

Quoting: peta77But those, that started and still care about games only, aren't always so Linux friendly. They mainly care about platforms with high market share and consider others as irrelevant / uncapable.
I wrote a mail to Gamestar back then when we were excited about Steam Machines. They published it and answered that they consider it and will take a look if the concept will lift off. No stupid decision to be honest, it's all still too niche...

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThat's actually a pretty solid article. It's like the person writing it had some idea what they were talking about. What a weird feeling. Is this normal in German IT news?
I guess we've got our share of bad writers, but the reason they survived to become the biggest (shrinking the least) is quality.

I'll link an article here. Heise is the publisher of Europe's biggest (paper) IT magazine, "c't".
