Quoting: GuestI so hate these trailers full of text that can’t be read because it goes too fast :(. This one is even worse because of the weird UI layout and effects.
I know what you mean, when there's text, one wants to read it, but I guess it's more about getting a general expression what you're doing in the game (chat, walk from bird's perspective, examine, gathering clues, solving puzzles, phone calls, elimnating airpl... *what?!?*, ...) than actual content of the chats. But yes, I did try (and did fail) to read it, too. :)

Steam gets new a Downloads page, new Steam Library manager and Linux improvements

Quoting: DebianUserThanks, i will look at that.
For me the problem is obviously here:
CApplicationManagerPopulateThread took 27010 milliseconds to initialize (will have waited on CAppInfoCacheReadFromDiskThread)
How do you get that info?

Nice, i'm always wondering why Steam is so long to start.
There's a Steam thread about this:

It takes more than 1.5 minutes for some, and less than 10 seconds for others (including me).

Speaking of the Library manager, when I go into the directory I always find myself surprised how many games leave some stuff there that I actually uninstalled (I'm not keeping games around which I don't play)...

You can now support the Flatpak package format on Open Collective

Quoting: WorMzylol, I've never seen rpm/deb described as 'next-generation'. I can kind of see it with rpm, but deb is something that deserves to be consigned to history as a terrible mistake that future generations should learn from.
IMHO, it's far better than what the 90% of desktops OS does. And even Microsoft found out, so they're working on a package manager lately...

Quoting: constAnyway, they were among the first to jump the Humble Linux train that got everything started and I'll never forget that. Linux gaming today only exists because of some critical events and the HIBs were a key part of this.
Trine 2 was the first game I bought for Linux.
Yep... Sitting on my couch, my Inspiron N5110 on my lap. Still remember that moment. Good'ol times, when everything felt new!
It didn't start up at first, all just black, and I wasn't even disappointed, I felt like it had to be like this, 'cause, you know... it's Linux, it cannot be for gaming!

Quoting: HoriBut does the Deck even have freesync?
That was kind of my point. Nobody mentioned it and yet it would be an invaluable feature on a device like this.
I'm sure there is a named rule that goes like

"If a major feature is not explicitly mentioned, it's not available"
The YouTubers who's name I forgot said a) this and b) they were able to count frame rates based on videos which wouldn't have been possible with VRR.

Quoting: scaineHaha! Apt learned from RPMs mistakes to avoid "RPM hell". This is what makes Linux, all Linux, so awesome. Everyone is "standing on the shoulders of giants".

Meanwhile, Microsoft is dragging the corpses of its enemies behind it, becoming more and more weighed down as it progresses. What a couple of months for MS - PrintNightmare RCE, SeriousSAM Local PrivEsc, and most recently now we have PetitPotam Remote PrivEsc. They're just the worst.
Microsoft made a command line package manager lately... :D

An interview with Joshua Ashton, developer on the likes of DXVK, VKD3D-Proton and more

I’ve been meaning to do proper releases with binaries built in the Steam Runtime and better documentation for it, but it doesn’t have any customers other than me yet.

If anyone is interested in using it to help with your own native ports, please get in touch."
Joshua, if you're reading this, very please make it shiny and publish whatever you've got up your sleeve to make porting easier!
