SteamTinkerLaunch is a huge all in one Linux wrapper tool for gaming

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI still don't own a cell phone. Canada is one of the most expensive places for phone plans; so far I just haven't been able to make myself spend some ungodly sum of money per month just so people can bug me when I'm off doing something by myself.
I heard they can be switched off or silent, though. ;)

(A colleague of mine once switched off his phone before flying. The phone wrote something about changing the battery then. So the designers of the phone found this action to be so unusual that they were sure it had to be about the battery...)

Remember ye good olde times, when the Feral radar contained several Linux items
- and additonally, did not say their names directly?

Quoting: slaapliedjeMy sensibilities have always been that nudity is human nature and violence really isn't (or shouldn't be) yet in the USA we have silly laws like some states at least will require strippers to cover up their nipples if Alcohol is served. Like you can be 18 and go into a fully nude strip bar that doesn't serve booze, but you have to be 21 to go into a place that serves booze, but the strippers have to wear G-strings and pasties.

Just always seemed odd to me.
I had to read this twice and still have troubles to believe it.

ScummVM to merge in ResidualVM, adding support for a number of 3D titles

Quoting: monyarmMy project targets visual novels, including NSFW ones. I've discussed it with the devs on the Discord, and most of them are okay with upstreaming support for older SFW visual novels (Like Clannad or Kanon), but the NSFW ones (the porn/doujinshi games), and the relatively new-ish ones (like Persona), It was a no from the devs, infact one of them said that if a NSFW game was upstreamed they'd quit.
:-(

I'm surprised the support seems to be that game-specific. I was expecting more of an engine type of support, which then enables (maybe with some additional tweaks) several or even many games. So people could say this patch supports visual novel engine WhatEver, maybe mentioning some "safe" games, and leave the rest... in the dark.

ScummVM to merge in ResidualVM, adding support for a number of 3D titles

Quoting: monyarmAnother worry I have, is how this is going to affect my fork (NovelVM), i originally began it based on ScummVM, then I switched to ResidualVM for the opengl support (and cause the game i'm working on has 3d). Now i'm going to have to switch back to ScummVM. And unlike last time, I have a lot more than 5 commits.
I guess you cannot bring them into upstream?

Metro Exodus to get a release date for Linux "soon" say 4A Games

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoMore activity detected [External Link]...

It seems the Linux and Mac ports are close to be released.
When I saw there's a new post here, I expected to read that there's no activity anymore for months now and that they most probably have given up on it.

Quoting: fleskAurora: The Lost Medallion - a point and click adventure, which seems interesting, but I didn't achieve much before I got stuck. I wish there'd been a button to highlight hotspots, as I'm pretty sure I've missed something.
Thanks for pointing that one out!

Quoting: shorbergThere is also a similar issue within the Anglo-sphere, for instance with the common British word for a cigarette is a homonym [External Link] of a derogatory term for homosexuals in the USA.
Being curious, I translated the derogatory term to German, translated that to English to get a list and those back to German to find Eff Ay Gee. :)

Debian Linux is planning a gaming-focused event online in November

Quoting: whizseI must admit, I chickened out and made a fresh install. Interestingly though, it there appears to be plans to make crossgrading an easier and supported upgrade path in Debian.
My install died some years later when I had an old entry in my X configuration file that nobody had ever tested again decades later. Still a bit sad, but I guess I would have missed improvements when I still had my 2000's system upgraded so many times. :D
