I waited for this article this weekend. :D
I decided to fill my last free weekend for the next... months? with a playthrough of Life Is Strange 2. Tight time schedule, one part Friday evening, two on Saturday, two today. It does work out and yes, the game was absolutely worth my sparse time!

NVIDIA talk up bringing DirectX Ray Tracing to Vulkan

(*) A term abused for decades...

Quoting: ShmerlIt can't solve it adequately this way. I explained above why. Unless you are proposing to have a whole dedicated device alongside your GPU, cramming more and more compute units into ray tracing ASICs to make it actually useful will cost more and more general GPU performance. To turn it downside up: Do you know another promising way to go to make graphics rendered in realtime "photorealistic"(*)?

Man, Decent on a 3Dfx was so amazing...

Quoting: EhvisNo, it's a solution the the rendering problems that rasterisers can't solve. It's just the first generation of hardware that attempts to use it in real time graphics. It's as much a gimmick as 3D rendering was with the first 3Dfx card.I'd say it's as much a gimmick as 3D rendering was before the first 3Dfx card.

That said, I avoided buying a GTX 2000, because at the moment, it feels more like an expensive gimmick.

Quoting: ShmerlI wouldn't say ray tracing became more popular. It's just a matter of time.

Steam Play Proton is correctly tracking Linux sales, a statement from Valve

Quoting: dpanterAll I want is that buying a game from a Linux platform counts as a Linux purchase.Problem is not that it's not doable, but that it's not what they want, and reasonaly so, in my opinion. If you're buying on Linux and play on Windows, "Windows" is the data they want to have.
Is that really so bloody difficult? :><:

Quoting: scaineTo the best of my knowledge (hope?), setting the browser's user agent should be enough.Quoting: F.UltraThere is always the "send a mail to yourself" option otherwise :)Pfff, I'm a busy guy... who's got time for that. I have games to play, places to be. Well, games to play at least. :D

To be honest, I'm not very happy with Pierre-Loup's answer (if I understood it correctly):
While Linux sales were tracked properly throughout, there was filtering in place that did not separate "Linux Units and Revenue" from "Total Units and Revenue" on the per-game summary page. This would only occur when an application was not launchable via Linux, and was purely a display issue.Well, displaying it right to the developers/publishers is what this is all about! It's great that Valve has the right numbers in their internal databases, but that doesn't (didn't) help anyone!

When seeing the graphics, I always wonder how many developers had such an illuminated endless plane in early development - and how many mourn now that they didn't just left it like this, as Besiege did. :D

Quoting: Liam DaweRight now, it might not even work like that at all. All we know, is that it's clearly not working as it's supposed to be.It's just a guess, but if just Proton attribution is not working, but the rest does as it used to (you reported games with Linux sales that didn't have a Linux version way before Proton existed, just due to the system used for buying), that should be the - odd - outcome. Let's see. At any rate it's unfortunate, and it's sad they didn't find out themselves way earlier.
