Quoting: StellaThat's the opposite of what people guessed why Valve's using Arch now, though.Quoting: Mountain ManYup, I'd rather have older stuff that works properly than bleeding edge with tons of bugsQuoting: AsciiWolfNice, but I wonder why they didn't go with Mesa 24.2. Mesa 24.1 is already quite old at this point. As a Linux user, you should know that "old" means "thoroughly tested and stable".

(*) A normal user never goes into a thing called "desktop mode" on a handheld console. And yes, I do think that's the "normal" (usual) behaviour.

Quoting: klhI never cared for these stores, but from what I picked up, a normal user(*) does not have access to Epic store on Steam Deck, and would get access by buying this thingy.Quoting: basedThat's not how the world works, easier access being sold is still access being sold.It also doesn't work the way you seem to think it does. It's not access that's sold, it's a client. Do you think Google can sue Hey for "selling access" to GMail?

Could someone test the demo on an OLED Steam Deck?
There's a report [External Link] it wouldn't work, but it does work on my SD 1.0, and I can hardly believe OLED SD is that different.

Goeland is like Untitled Goose Game but you're a seagull in a town that's a bit too peaceful

Quoting: nwildnerWhat a nice plot twist for those(including me) living in places where Seagulls are jerks. You might - or might totally not - enjoy "Just Crow Things", where a can of beans can make you fly faster. Due to reasons. Recoil principle, ya know.
Waiting for the Pringles+Laxatives DLC....

Quoting: Deleted_UserIs there a reason why this game is covered here, other than it looks nice? I mean as far as i can see there is no native linux version planned, it is not based on an open sourced engine, etc.Liam's taste, I guess?
What makes this game special?
Steam purchases now clearly state you're just getting a license not ownership

Due to the consequences, and the less small likeliness.

Quoting: pbI'd be more afraid Valve could be going to be publicly traded.Quoting: ArdjeIf Steam dies, your access dies too to games that use steam DRM. Only those DRM free in the steam store that are downloaded already will continue to work.Look, if Steam ever dies, it will be a problem for 100+ million people. I am 100% sure someone makes a small program that emulates Steam DRM and you can use it to run any of the downloaded games that used to rely on Steam client calls. Given the scale, it might even be government-sanctioned, lol.

Quoting: PoliticsOfStarvingI didn’t see a proper response.. I might have missed it though. We have strong consumer protections here, and Valve doesn’t always see eye to eye with how our laws work. That’s been the prevailing theory. How about they could sell off as quick as they could produce without further expanding the market?

Quoting: Leahi84I guess in addition I prefer the high end graphics and resolution my PC and 1440 monitor gives me, so it's just not interesting to me to play that stuff in a smaller screen with graphics turned down.I understand that and I do prefer the big one, too. I just found it convenient from time to time. (And it's far from the phone experience.)
Quoting: Leahi84To each their own.Of course!

Quoting: Leahi84I don't have a Steam deck myself as I'm not a fan of portable gaming at all (Don't even play games on my Pixel phone) and don't want to play games unless its on my PC, but I'm glad for my nephew who hasn't been able to get one down there yet.I wouldn't even ponder the idea of playing with my phone. But having a small Linux PC to play on the sofa or in the bed on the other hand...
