I never cared for these stores, but from what I picked up, a normal user(*) does not have access to Epic store on Steam Deck, and would get access by buying this thingy.

(*) A normal user never goes into a thing called "desktop mode" on a handheld console. And yes, I do think that's the "normal" (usual) behaviour.

Could someone test the demo on an OLED Steam Deck?

There's a report [External Link] it wouldn't work, but it does work on my SD 1.0, and I can hardly believe OLED SD is that different.

Look, if Steam ever dies, it will be a problem for 100+ million people. I am 100% sure someone makes a small program that emulates Steam DRM and you can use it to run any of the downloaded games that used to rely on Steam client calls. Given the scale, it might even be government-sanctioned, lol.

I'd be more afraid Valve could be going to be publicly traded.
Due to the consequences, and the less small likeliness.
