Quoting: killyouThey crowdfounded all of their latest titles. They should be able to finish Torment as it was crowdfounded and it raised more than they were asking. They got more than they were asking for Wasteland 2 as well. So these games cost them nothing and were safe bets.Sorry, what you are saying is totally unrealistic. Doing business - and even more so creating software - very often exceeds the planned funds. Furthermore they might go for content more if they have more funds than expected. And the planning might (and should!) involve the money you expect from sells in the first place. It's not like funding covers all expenses and sells make you rich. If you think it would be that way, please start developing great games (don't forget to support Linux!) and become rich that way. Good luck.
Tomb Raider for Linux is currently super cheap on the Feral store

Quoting: GuppyApparently I already bought this game on steam, wonder if I will ever get over the whole "OMG they ported a game to Linux *buy*"..It's on my stack as well. I thought I need to buy Mad Max on day one, but didn't yet touch Lara... X)

Quoting: liamdaweSo the requestinator might be (at least a little bit) more than just some social media fun...?Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoIf that is the case, yes, they deserve money for job...and We deserve a refund if they did a bad job.Like Edwin said, Feral are the publisher for all of their games. That alone should have told you it was not Feral being paid off, likely the other way around. Which is another reason I have a lot of respect for what Feral do. They seem to be the ones actively going to these publishers and developers for the ports (a lot of these ports are games people have highly requested too, like this one!).

Quoting: edddeduckferalSo you're solely paid by game copy sells and don't get money from the studio/original publisher?Quoting: Comandante oardoFeral acquired the publishing rights for Mac and Linux...That's how all Feral games work.
If that is the case, yes, they deserve money for job..

The answer "Linux version - no, I don't think so.", if listened to, sounded quite firm to me. But I'm still not sure if he had got a clue about everything he answered. :) What's more disturbing to me is the Linux version vanishing from the stores.

Quoting: oddHa, ha... It was me who asked the question on Twitch...Cool - thanks!
Quoting: oddBut my gut-feeling tells me, that we will see a Linux port in the future. It seemed that Pawel even wasn't aware of the existing port of the first game. He also said something strange: "First on PC, Steam and Gog..." ... PC, Steam and Gog?!I thought about writing it down as well for the article, but as it's not directly related to Linux, I didn't. I would have written it as "First in PC (Steam and GoG), then...". Sounds like a suitable answer to me, as people often want to know if it comes on GoG as well.

Quoting: Comandante oardoFeral already has been paid out by Warner, so We don't have to give a single cent to them...... or they at least get a share per sold copy, which seemed to be the case for the past releases.
Unless that Feral acquired the publishing rights for Mac and Linux...

Quoting: killyouThey've released ~14 games so far and they need money for the development of another one? Really?Sorry, that doesn't make sense. Making ~14 games cost ~14 times much money.

Quoting: rkfgThis is not exactly true. Backers have only given $483k as of now and $1700k come from Fig itself. This is an unusual scheme for crowdfunding.D'oh!
