GDC Europe survey shows 17% of developers plan to release Linux titles

Hm. We've got 25% on Steam, probably with more old than new games. 17% would, well... not be more than that.

The curious tale of vanishing Linux & SteamOS ports, a status on a few of them

Quoting: cprnI asked about Linux under official YouTube video of SPAZ2 few days ago. They confirmed but said something like: "when the PC version calmes down a little". I happily educated them about what PC means but they removed my comment like I was rude or something... not that I wasn't, it freaking annoys me when PR people misuse technical terms.
While it is correct, you'll not make new Linux enthusiasts (or even supporters) bitching about this.
Ordinary PC Windows developer will think: "Oh no! Now as I'm thinking about supporting their marginal group OS, they start caviling about words everybody knows!"

Double Fine is doubling the good news, as there is a discounted bundle of their games on Steam

I got some Double Fine games due to their Humble Bundle [External Link], and to be honest, they were not my cup of coffee. Not Psychonauts, not Brutal Legend, not Costume Quest, not Stacking. Broken Age is fine, but there are better adventure games out there.

I'm hoping to publish a more in-depth article about my porting experiences at a later date. If that sort of thing is exciting for you, definitely keep an eye out.
I'm very interested in that.
As software developer and Linuxer, I'd love to port as well.

Alienware do a pretty nice job of advertising their Steam Machine & SteamOS in this new video

There he is.

Is this the level of constructiveness we can expect from your postings here?

Why don't you get rich selling better PCs with the same form-factor for a lower price?
Great, there is just a comment and because it doesn't fit in the image of some people here it has to be "trolling".
I didn't talk about "trolling".

Quoting: throghWow, have you ever encountered the idea of asking the experience behind? The only thing I can see here in the spot is some proprietary hardware, a complete closed box, should be sold, combined with a close, proprietary platform. Yeah, and you people like to party for having a Linux completely looking like the black-box Windows here. Party on! :D

You like to party for your Steam-platform and your Steam-machines? So go on: Make everything to let your Linux look like an open-source version of Windows.
I didn't talk about such things either. I was talking about the price tag, which is reasonable for the form-factor, and about Meraco, which didn't yet troll here (but wasn't posting anything constructive either), but clearly is a dedicated anti-Linux troll in the Steam forums. He's actively derailing discussions there; look at his posting history.

Feel free to dislike Steam Machines, but this has nothing to do with the destructive nature of Meraco's postings.

Black Mesa developer shoots down anti-Linux troll, confirms Linux version is in progress

Quoting: STiATShowing support for something is not spamming by the rules of Steam. Though, developers may shut down such topics if they don't consider porting the game (would sometimes be nicer if they commented on this though).
I agree with you about the spamming, though the rules explicitly name the "+1". And it's fine if the developers don't want to make a port and thus such a thread would be useless for everybody. But both was not the case here...

Quoting: STiAThe will not have any impact with his comments anyway.
There's been a thread - which he proudly linked to prove whatever - which got shut down, express not for the "+1"s (which technically could be considered spam according to Steam's rules), but due to the derailed discussion - due to the trolling, that is.

I took another look into his posting history and reported him for trolling.
I don't think it will result in him being spoken to or even banned, but I had to try it.
