Quoting: DogsRNice
Fixed screenshots copied to the clipboard displaying with swapped red and blue channels on windows.
How did this happen in the first place?
There's loads of image storage possibilities, many using RGB (red-green-blue), but also e.g. BGR.

Black Myth: Wukong shows very clearly Valve are selling a lot of Steam Decks

Quoting: gaboverstaRecently a German YouTube channel made a video about handheld gaming desktops and articulated that they were all infuriatingly unusable. Windows being the reason. Naturally, the Steam Deck was the exception.
This channel of Gamers gaming (and editing etc.) on Windows made a point out of the Steam Deck being great because it uses Linux and the customizability that comes with that.

We truly have come far.
Could you link that video?

Quoting: TuxeeAnd I don't care for Fortnite in the slightest. I'm waaaaay to mature for that crap.
Guess I'm immature then for wanting to play it on both my desktop Linux and Steam Deck. Okay then.
I cannot and do not want to comment on Fortnite, but not always bahaving according to one's age from time to time is so usual nowadays...

Quoting: ReyoldIs there a reason this seems to keep happening?
Yes, most releases are just the Steam version with GOG's Steam crack applied – that's what GOG recommends instead of a proper DRM-free release.. That crack has no Linux version.
Is there a place to read something about this, maybe even on GoG?

shapez 2 is an absurdly great and accessible factory-building game out now
17 Aug 2024 at 4:52 pm UTC

Quoting: JarmerDownloaded it this morning! I've been very much looking forward to this since the demo released earlier this year. Can't wait to get in some good play time this weekend! This is the exact kind of "factory builder" I want: no timers, no invasions, no citizens dying, etc.
.. no challenge, no satisfaction...

I'm not fully sure what I would expect from such a game, but this one didn't seem to provide it. I liked Infinifactory, because I wasn't sure I could build what's needed. I didn't get this feeling from playing the demo of Shapez 2. :-/

Steam store pages are about to get a lot cleaner, Valve puts an end to game advert spam

Quoting: Purple Library Guy
Quoting: SchattenspiegelTo be honest I do not care how the publishers clutter "their" product page. It is their loss if they annoy me when i try to buy their product. What I do care about, though, is that there still is no official option to remove the "news" section from "MY" library page... :(
There's a news section? I think my brain has, over many years, gotten almost too good at not noticing all the ads and various other crap that clutters all the pages I look at on the internet.
At the top of the library page in the Steam client.

(You asked...!)

Valve confirm plan to get Steam Deck's SteamOS on the ROG Ally and more handhelds

Not really that - people are generally going to get their games from Steam regardless of whether they're using Windows or Linux. The strategic aim of the Deck is as a Linux gaming demonstration device so that Valve's own customers aren't the handcuffs that tie Valve to Microsoft. The other handhelds coming with Linux out of the box is the best scenario, but Linux being easy (and desirable) for customers to put on themselves is a pretty good second choice.
I got the impression that Linux actually is the better base for handhelds, so this decision would be independent of showing off an alternative to Windows.

This reads like thesis, antithesis, synthesis. ;)

Quoting: thekraken8himValve's commitment to be truly platform agnostic never ceases to impress me. While most tech platforms work tirelessly to build walled gardens, Valve seems to be constantly building new paths and still making boatloads of money. I really hope the rest of the industry takes note.
Quoting: KlaasWell… the walled garden is the shop with the games. The device is just a gimmick to sell more games, so it makes sense for them to supported other hardware.
Quoting: eldakingOh, it's just Valve casually putting in work to fix and improve their competitors' products. Nothing big.

Quoting: EikeWho tries it before I buys it? ;)
I bought it, the Linux version is an AppImage and it works perfectly. Purchase goes through the Humble Store which is convenient.
After reading this (and before the problem reports were posted), I bought the game, and it runs ootb on my Debian Stable. Looking forward!
