Quoting: EhvisI've been using VR on Linux with a 2080 Ti since 2019 and the only issue that I've had that was nvidia specific was that support for async reprojection came later.Do you happen to know if this is the same topic as the mentioned "Experimental improvements to async support"?

Quoting: slaapliedjeIt's a licence allowing some stuff and disallowing other stuff. Yes, it's more permissive, but Linux/s uses the very same mechanism Microsoft and Valve and the game publishers are using. If people think this mechanism is wrong (See Lachu above), don't forget to blame Linux/s as well. Giving somebody a licence is nothing to complain about, but the usual way to hand over some rights to a software.Quoting: EikeThe difference is in the license that Linux has.Quoting: LachuFor example in License of Windows 10 exist text told, the software is not sold, but licensed. And so is Linux.

Quoting: kuhpunktI guess this depends on the licence the game has got. Does it allow decompiling?Quoting: Mountain ManAnd what laws are being broken or challenged here?Quoting: mattaraxiaYes, let's just ignore all laws we don't like or find inconvenient. Anarchy always works out the best for everybody.Quoting: Mountain ManWhy do people keep poking the bear? It's not like Nintendo is going to suddenly say, "Fine, you win. We will stop attempting to protect our intellectual property rights."Yes, why do people keep doing what's right in the face of an idiotic legal system. Silly protesters with their values. We'll never understand. When the deck's stacked against you, just roll over immediately, that's what I say.

Quoting: EriShouldn't Borderlands 2 be running natively? What have you been playing recently that you think is worth mentioning? Do you have any issues with the Steam Deck Verified rating on something? Let me know in the comments.I recently played Borderlands 2 on Steam Deck and it crashed constantly with every Proton version I tried, it's supposed to be verified.

I never got far, didn't manage to build a vehicle that can stand some dozens of soldiers in like level 5, but it is a fun game.

Quoting: CatKillerIn case anyone else is also considering it for a younger audience, according to the discussion pages there is an option to disable the blood. That's true, it's still violent though.

Quoting: SimonKJones2. Scrivener, writing software that isn't available on Linux. That's basically the only thing keeping me on the platform.Did you try it under WINE lately? Somebody reported (I think on this site, something geo-related?) that programs not related to games at all also profit from the WINE improvements.

Quoting: LoftyI agree.I'm not even what you may call a "privacy nut".Although this is a common turn of phrase. It's time we removed the association of conspiracy theorist with a human right to privacy.
Quoting: LoftyIn the early day's people were far more trusting of technology and saw it as largely altruistic and a benefit to society (which with opensource it still can be) but invariably the usual shadowy forces do their thing and here we are.[bolding by me]
