Quoting: GuestI hate the people saying "Who cares about FIFA/overpriced overmade game" etc. Its not about that you fools - it doesn't matter if you don't like the game due to some deluded conception of privacy or whatever.Stopped reading here. I propose not to devalue other people's ideas (or the people themselves) - especially if it's not really what you want to talk about.

Quoting: ljrkThat is indeed true! I just wanted to assert that "no wonder this breaks if you sandbox it" has little ground for argument if even the official Steam runtime uses sandboxing to increase portability ^^It seems it wasn't the problem for CS2, but I do see people in the Steam forums from time to time who have problems they can solved by installing the native/pure/you-know-what-I-mean package. Often accessing other files/discs, but I think it also included sound. Sandboxes can sandbox stuff away you want. I'd bet Steam's Linux Runtime is built in a way that doesn't.

Quoting: ljrkFurthermore, the same sandbox tech that Flatpak uses (bubblewrap) is also employed by the Steam Linux Runtime... so the game runs sandboxed, no matter what.Tell me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that you do not need to use the Linux Runtime.

Quoting: EhvisI guess in this case he's got time again now...Quoting: lejimsterEdit: that's a shame if they've given up their engine and native support for this release. I wonder if the Linux programmers have left? I still will buy, but that is disappointing to hear if the person above is correct.I think it was only one programmer and he left for Stadia.

Quoting: fabertaweI've more or less finished playing Fallout 3 for the first time and unless they fix the code to stop it crashing every five minutes, then stick with the original (cheaper), as you'll have to mod it for a stable play through anyway and there's a plethora of QOL and graphic enhancement mods to choose from.I played through Fallout 3 (on Windows back then) and cannot remember any crashes. I didn't use mods.
We may see Counter-Strike 2 release next week

Quoting: PyreticYeah, but its less visible, people won't start donating to it. Makes sense! Expectations adjusted. :)Quoting: EikeI used to think Godot might be the most interesting alternative engine only from our Linux perspective. Now it seems it's the one profiting the most from what Unity has done? The beauty of open source licences is that anyone can open up the engine and see whether it's worth it for them to start using it.
Although I imagine Unreal Engine has gotten a similar boost in popularity.
