I came to the same conclusion. Unfortunately, it looks like this is an issue with the Unity version we're using (2019.4.38f). It might be a matter of letting users know about the workaround in terms of increasing the timeout while we continue to look for a better solution. Simply upgrading the Unity version isn't feasible -- we have built a lot of custom tech (including a hybrid SDF/raymarching renderer for the in-game console) that would require a lot of work to refactor for newer versions.
But if the user just waits, the game does start up, right? So, if nothing else can be done, have some message, so the user knows it's alright?

Not that I'm aware of. I think this is the first drop in retail stores.

Quoting: ShmerlI think Debian experimental would have it before unstable and testing.
Debian experimental is the place to dump stuff (and sometimes just leave them there) that can brake things even in unstable, it doesn't say anything for the user and it shouldn't ever be used.
I've been using the Nvidia driver from Debian experimental quite regularly. You need to be prepared to rollback the driver (have a list of packages to uninstall ready, the just install nvidia-driver from where you want), but more often than not, it just worked. The driver seems to be quite independent from the rest of the system.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBeen about a year now . . . I wonder if we'll ever get to see any sales figures. How's the Linux percentage looking on Steam these days?
-0.11% last month. Is a million Steam Decks or two not enough to compensate for Steam's growth?!?

Steam Deck in brick stores, that's something that nobody else has got, right?

I'd find it very hard to create a satisfying end to such a story - let alone one that satisfies a majority of players...!

Counter-Strike 2 is reportedly a real thing and coming soon

Quoting: LinasCounter-Strike holds strong because it is a time-tested formula that has been refined to perfection. If Valve wants to add or change the core mechanics, they would be taking a risk of not being received positively and driving the fans away. Making it a completely separate game would allow them much more freedom to do what they want. I just hope it does not become another Battlefield of Duty.
How I would love an experience like I had with the early CoDs, now natively on Linux...

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLThey only upgrade SDL to new version. Most of games can work out of box with native Wayland by only upgrading SDL2. No big deal for game that is still in developing.
I find it good enough that they a) know and b) care!

Quoting: BlackBloodRumBut rather.. the entitled gaming community. Generally being crappy as usual. For example, still, to this day, when a dev proudly announces "Hey, we're Steam deck verified", the community still sends a ton of crap and hate their way. For example, Cyberpunk 2077:
I didn't step through many pages, but aren't most people there angry about the game's quality itself and are using every chance to bitch around?
