I always compare it to workers: If you hired some workers, you do want them to work if there's still work to do. (Of course, it's not useful if they're just running in circles.)

Quoting: FireGate_13Man, please stop suggesting that they improved this game. 5 patches and counting, and still constant 100% cpu usage, huge vram and ram numbers, crashes and stutters.. this port is still the worst..100% CPU usage is not necessarily a bad thing, though.

Quoting: F.UltraBut wouldn't I want to have someone knowing Linux and OpenGL/Vulkan?Quoting: EikeBut by the way, if they want to higher 1 (one) Linux developer, and they want to port the game, wouldn't the job description contain knowledge in some Linux graphics API? Or do they already have some of those? The graphics API part is a different job : https://gamejobs.co/3D-Graphics-Programmer-Snowdrop-at-Ubisoft-3802 [External Link]
Intimately familiar with various graphics APIs (DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, Vulkan) and associated shader languages

Quoting: scaineRight. Even if they want to try to make the game for Linux, they would not publicise it yet, and they don't need to for a job offer.Quoting: GuestSo they are trying to hire a developer without being even clear about the job? What's unclear? The careers website and the job description look pretty bog standard to me.
It seems more like a promotional thing than a job opportunity.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBut, but . . . ! This can't be real, I have it on good authority that the existence of Proton means no game studio will ever again be interested in native Linux development!I thought similar things - just that it will not actually happen. Let's wait and see. :)

Quoting: CatKillerIt's a pretty terrible name, and Ubisoft have historically been not good to work for, but this"Be the person who pesters all those developers with Linux." :DWork with the rest of the engineering staff to help them expand their cross-platform mindsetis how all developers should be thinking.
The latest Steam Survey had a huge surge of Simplified Chinese

Quoting: sarmadPiracy has little to do with this. The vast majority of those who use Linux have no problem shelling out $100 for a Windows license; they choose Linux for reasons other than cost. The reality is that the culture of open source almost does not exist in China, nor anywhere else outside of Europe and North America. For some reason people there simply do not understand the reason why openness is important, or just do not care.Well, there's larger problems than software freedoms in some parts of the world outside US and Europe to be fair. (Of course, that's also true here, but to a lesser and less acute way.)

Quoting: PenglingI didn't expect someone to come along who can read these... symbols! :) Thanks!Quoting: EikeI'm struggling with the title. Normally, it would be "live a life", right? What does "live a live" mean?Looking at the katakana on the original Super Famicom box, the intended pronunciation of both instances of "Live" is how you would say it in the phrase "Live on stage!" (i.e., rhymes with "Hive").
Since the English logo on the same box renders the second "Live" as a mirror-image, I assume that the idea is for "Live A Live" to be read as "Live, Alive" in either direction, but this just might be one of those mysteries of 1990s semi-decorative English in gaming, instead!
