Talking point - what have you been playing lately?

I saw Tamriel Rebuilt had a big release and decided it was time to get OpenMW running and install a modlist. It's a little unnerving just how much I remember about the original game, and TR is very well executed.

Tears of Metal is pretty much a co-op Scottish Dynasty Warriors with fun upgrades and a demo worth trying

Too bad you can't use those warriors to also fight off English imperialism and the crown.
You're definitely fighting off English imperialism in this! It's pretty fun, the squad management and promotion layer is an interesting addition.

Quoting: nwildnerAnd just as a reminder: ITCH does not automatically adds games to your library. While you will be able to download them, you have to manually enter the game and add it to your library.

It is kinda weird but, it is their way of managing game collections. That happened back in 2020 with the "Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality" which had tons of games and you could get lots because it is hard to keep track of the games you own on Itch.

And that is something that it will not change as per Itch owners/develpers: https://itch.io/t/1979459/give-me-an-option-to-add-all-ukraine-bundle-items-to-my-library [External Link]

So, a greasemonkey script on Firefox/Chrome is a good idea if you want to add those games to your library.

Redline Crooks was in a Next Fest a while back. If there's any love in your heart for top-down driving, from Bump'n'Jump to Art of Rally, it's a very good time.

Sorceress is a neat first person action-platformer kind of thing with fun magic powers and environmental interactions, basic but well executed lever pully/key findy puzzles, and a Very Good Kick. You could probably play it as a Thieflike but there's no real call for that, movement is fast and fluid enough to go in bubble-guns (and bows and spears and swords and regular axes and magical ice axes) blazing.

Heretic's Fork is an unholy blending of deck-building and tower defense

Quoting: denyasisI'm still all for supporting the community and we definitely need more diverse voices in games, I just wish the marketing around this was a little less... Corporate-y (or perhaps more honest)
I'm willing to cut itch way more slack on "happy pride! buy buy buy!" than I am for Pepsi, Target, airlines, etc, but I do feel some kind of way about it becoming an annual institution.

It's not playable on Linux but if we're talking about genre history, Dream Quest on iOS is another important early entry (2014).

Wreckfest is a smashing good time on Steam Deck

The driving looks fun but how are the tracks? I know maximizing crashability is a constraint but only the last one shown was more than a basic figure-eight and then not by a whole lot (although the ring of fire was a very nice touch).
