There are some really fun mods and subgames for Minetest that are worth trying out. I'm very new at it, but I've found everything easy to install and highly accessible.
So far my favourite subgames are Voxelgarden, which has Viking-esque tech, and Pixture, which really does cool things with the textures. Although being such a n00b, I'm a bit lost and just doing things at random in single-player mode, and yet not confident enough to hop onto a server full of experienced players.

Well, knowing the Civ tradition of waiting until the second or even third expansion when the game is actually worth playing, there seems no motivation to buy what to me is a ridiculous price for what doesn't seem to be more than a refinement of the previous games. $80 CDN for support units on the same hex, some graphical improvement and maybe a less boring tech tree? And $105 CDN for the soundtrack and season pass equivalent? No thank you!
Anima Gate of Memories is an awesome looking third person action RPG coming to Linux (corrected)

It's hard to avoid comparisons to Dark Souls, particularly given I think it's illegal to talk about fantasy ARPGs with epic soundtracks without mentioning Dark Souls at least once. But I think Melkemind has the right of it, this owes more of its heritage to the more flamboyant Devil May Cry style. This could be a real winner, based on the flash alone. Hopefully it runs as well as the trailer suggests.

I had abysmal performance on the opening cinematic, which had the video freeze at times although the audio kept going without a hitch. But once the actual gameplay started that pretty much cleared up.
My biggest issues with the game itself are more content-based, especially how the game falls in love with its death scenes. I know that Lara dying in interesting ways is a tradition that goes back to the first game, but they go a little nuts with it here. Especially the river scene!
It also turns into pretty much Ms. Shooty Woman after a while, and exploring all these cool environments takes a back seat to killing a couple hundred mooks who have no sense of self-preservation, then move on to the next set piece and do it again. Not really what I want out of a Tomb Raider game.
I do really like all the platforming though. The running and jumping bits are really satisfying, and you really do get that sense of adventure from them. The cliff village is a great example, or running through the cave early on.

Endciv, a game about building a town in the wastelands looks like it will come to Linux in experimental form

Quoting: zimplex1To be honest though as of now I'm personally a bit fatigued with the wasteland/post-apocalypse settings in games... especially zombies, god I can't stand anymore zombies (not that this game has zombies or anything).I'm so sick to death of zombies, I automatically mark almost any game with them on Steam as "Not Interested". They're so over-used in media in general, but games are 50 times worse.

Can I just say I like how they use "PC" to refer to all the personal computer platforms collectively, and not just "for Windows"?

Quoting: IlyaI don't understand why some people think this game is in any way controversial. Sure it is daring (it wouldn't be the first time terrorists attack content creators), but ISIL is the most hated terrorist group right now. I think it's just that people go "Oh, same creators as Hatred, it must be wrong is some kind of way!"The creator has explicitly said it's got to do with Muslim immigration into Europe and nationalism. Hard to say how much of that is marketing (probably a fair amount) and how much he actually believes in it, but that's how they're selling it in any case. You can certainly see a lot of that sentiment in the Steam reviews.

Destructive Creations seem to have realized that taking advantage of bigots is a good moneymaker. As with Hatred, they're perfecting the art of lightening the wallets of people who mainly buy it because they think they're upsetting someone. Pretty cynical, as marketing strategies go, but you can't deny the effectiveness.
Find something controversial, dash off a quick game and market it to the angry folks. Add a bit of spin, in this case anti-refugee sentiment, to the marketing and watch the rubes line up to throw money at you.
