Tencent now own majority stake in Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included creator Klei

Well, not getting into the Chinese government issue, but Tencent is very much the masters of predatory monetization. A lot of what is rightly criticized about Fortnite originates from their effective control of the company and let's not even get into their mobile stuff. It would not surprise me a bit if Klei's games started including new and interesting ways to siphon money out of your pocket.

So the solution here is that game devs should be nicer to Liam, and they've found the road to success.

Hadn't heard of this one, and the Steam page doesn't indicate Linux support. Have they promised it somewhere?
It's from Fullbright, who's been very good on Linux support in the past. Same folks who did Gone Home and Tacoma.

Definitely looking forward to Book of Travels and Imposter Factory, both insta-buys for me.

Chained Echoes [External Link] and Open Roads [External Link]are both scheduled for 2021, although both are saying Q4. So a delay or two could push them into next year at this point. Still, I want to play both so I'm hopeful.

I finally finished Salt & Sanctuary recently, so that's a big achievement for me.

Been playing Stardew Valley the past couple of days, now that the new expansion is out. It's really great and I love the new map.

Littlewood is great, and I'll probably go back and play a different route sometime in the new year. The characters are all wonderful and it's a joy to just putter around and make my little town. Can't wait to see what the dev does with it in the future.

I come back to ISLANDERS every so often, and early in the year I played a lot of Dicey Dungeons. For a while I got pretty into Kind Words, and again after the update for that came out. Need to play more of it. I tried a variety of things from the BLM Bundle on Itch, of course, as a lot of people did. Dorf Romantik in particular looks promising, and the dev is planning to expand it into a much deeper game. One to watch out for.

Those are the big highlights I can recall off the top. There's probably a bunch I've forgotten as well.

Damn shame that the Feather team decided to abandon Linux support, which was present for the demo and they initially promised would be coming.

Quoting: tuubiIt does look enticing, but the "Multiplayer Online" bit will keep it off my wishlist. I suppose this is for the extroverts among us.
From what I'm seeing here, a lot of the multiplayer aspects seem to allow for not interacting beyond greeting others as you both go about your errands, rather than absolutely needing to team up. I like the idea of that, since it would make the world feel more "lived in" than solely NPCs populating the place.

This is looking really good, and seems to be the sort of game I was hoping Wander would be, way back. But where that attempt at a non-combat, exploration and RP focused MMO made some bad choices and ultimately failed, this project seems to have some serious thought and effort behind it.

Will definitely be taking a close look at this once it hits EA or release, whichever comes first.

Explore, hatch monsters and train in Monster Sanctuary out now

I really do like how Monster Sanctuary plays. The combat feels good, the exploration too. The story and characters aren't especially deep, but what's there is fun to interact with.

If anything, the only criticism I've had so far is with one particular boss who absolutely punishes you for not using particular strategies that...the game never indicates are necessary to succeed. In fact he comes right after several levels of pretty much stomping enemies with just paying attention to affinities. Like hitting a brick wall, which did give me a negative opinion of that part of the game.

Wait, is that a "wine road/route" joke? Well done, if so.
