Trying it out right now, and it's pretty fun. Might be interested in picking this one up.

Valve are making the Index VR kit available in more countries

Can confirm, the Index page in the Steam app does give a price and an "Add to cart" button for Canadian users.

Oddly, they still don't offer the Steam Controller here.

Google Stadia is out now for early adopters, well a few anyway

Quoting: subI somehow get the feeling there are many different stakeholders that just don't want to see this thing to be successful.
I am one of them. I want it to fail and fail hard. Because I don't like monopolies. We all know how this is going to end, right? Right now, Stadia is (or rather, wants to be) the Netflix of gaming. Then the big studios (ahem EA, Ubisoft, MS etc), will do the same thing the big content creators did to Netflix: Declaring 100% of their own content "exclusive" to their own streaming platforms. Google will react to that by tossing big bucks at developing their own exclusive stuff, because they can and want to stay in business. And now players will have to pay $$$ a month to 5-6 different platforms to get access to a halfway comprehensive library of games. The publishers will laugh at how we're now spending three times more money on gaming than in the olden days, when people used to buy good games in Steam sales, and laugh even harder at how they can dictate both prices and terms consumes without them having the slightest chance to do anything about it.

Brave new world.
We're already living in that world, it seems.

Remote Play Together released out of Beta, big sale now on Steam

Overcooked 2 has proper multiplayer so no need to use this for it, though the first Overcooked would benefit from it =) That said, Overcooked2's networking leaves a lot to be desired, and it can be really glitchy and laggy even between good connections.
This literally is designed so people can play if they don't own the game or have it installed.

I wonder how much fast a connection you need for this to work properly. Roomie has throttles in place because she works remotely and needs a certain amount of our bandwidth, and what's left doesn't seem to be enough to even stream Stardew Valley to my tablet, let alone connect to a remote session of Overcooked 2 or whatever.

Explore a fractured future in 'Resolutiion', a ridiculously stylish Zeldaesque action-adventure

Quoting: NezchanStill puzzled by the "Zeldaesque" description when it looks and apparently plays nothing like the Zelda games save in the most abstract sense, and what we see of the story is leagues away. Even stuff like "punishing combat", I'm pretty sure that's not the first thing people look for when picking up a Zelda game.
This game is a rather direct copy of Hyper Light Drifter, and that game referenced Zelda as one of the influences. I think this is why they chose to market it like this.
I guess "Zeldaesque" sounds better than "So close to HLD you expect to see the Heart Machine logo".

inXile's big party-based RPG 'Wasteland 3' launching May 19 next year, now up for pre-order

Quoting: wytrabbitI don't understand the reason to automatically assume the worst. There is no definitive evidence supporting either theory, so why not keep an open mind? You don't have to get your hopes up, but you're making assumptions without any support. Microsoft bought them but we're not privy to how much control and influence MS exerts on inXile internally. Being negative at this point benefits nobody.
I never closed my mind on it. At the time they aquired Obsidian and InXile, MS tried to promote their store and XBox with exclusives. They also have the habbit of pushing their tech with their products, and MS gaming tech still is very anti-anything but MS. So it was logical for me to assume that the purchases were made for this reason. Of course when/if Microsoft changes their Strategy, anything could happen, but at the time (and still) I don't see them offering their games (after Wasteland 3 and PoE2) on Steam or GOG, and I certainly expect them to offer Linux games on the MS store.
It's worth noting that Obsidian has recently expressed doubt about Pillars of Eternity 3, stating that they're "re-examing" the game's format.

They cite poor sales of PoE 2, but my immediate thought is that MS wants something more console-oriented from them, and probably something with a more reliable return on investment than an isometric RPG. So expect more first-person, action oriented stuff like the Outer Worlds, which itself has no Linux port planned that I'm aware of (and I don't know if it would have even without MS being involved).

Stardew Valley is getting a nifty whole-farm screenshot feature in an upcoming update

Quoting: PangaeaNot played this in a while, not since before the multiplayer version came out, so it may be time to try it out again.

I'm a little confused by the note that this is the first time they/he worked with other people on the game though, because I'm pretty confident I read the same thing about the multiplayer feature maybe a year ago (whenever that was developed and released). Maybe just hairsplitting, but figured I'd mention it.
If I remember right, and I may not, the announcement about working with a team was an upcoming thing that hadn't started yet. So with this update, which he's been working on for quite a while, it's the first time he's actually had the team together.

It's a lovely game, and as odd as it must sound to some who hated that aspect, I loved just sitting around and fishing.
Fishing in Stardew is actually pretty good. It's frustrating until you get a level or three in it, but after you get the second rod it gets a lot more enjoyable. I even got one of the legendaries!

I can't wait! So much to look forward to in this update. Here's hoping there are other new maps besides the multiplayer one.
