Double Fine release the first official Psychonauts 2 trailer

Pong is a very important game, when taken into context. The original Dragon Warrior is, too. They were both achievements of their time, and quite important. In context. But that doesn't make either of them any fun from a modern standpoint. Indeed, both are pretty damn tedious for anything more than a short session. And don't even get me started on the incessent grind that is Pokémon Blue.
Context, in this case, does mean you can appreciate the achievement it was at the time. But the question of "Can I have fun if I play this right now, before the sequel comes out?" doesn't rely on it.

Quoting: constContext is important, but not necessarily when you're asking "Is it fun to play in [current year]".Quoting: BeamboomWhy should a game have no context? For me, computer games can be art. Psychonauts is art. You can't completely appreciate art without context.Quoting: constA good game - as in a game worth playing - needs no context/excuse. I've always been of the opinion that if one have to make excuses to defend* playing it, then it's not worth playing. And Psychonauts really have not aged well. Very low polygon graphics, loads of visual and mechanical glitches, horrible camera, horrible controls, bad scripting, it is a game that deserves to remembered through rose tinted glasses.Quoting: BeamboomPsychonauts have not aged well. I'd advice you to wait for the sequel, Liam.I think you really need to enjoy it in context. Playing it just after replaying some earlier 3rd person platformers will instantly make you appreciate what they accomplished with it. It's an important piece of gaming history and still enjoyable as such.
* excuses like "it's good for;
- being so old..."
- so few developers..."
- having no funds..."
- being their first game..."
- being free..."
Damn, 90 % of the jokes I remember won't work without the target knowing a little context.
You are pretty much alone with your opinion and from my point of view, you are damn wrong.

Quoting: pbTwo years from now: "Cosmic horror metroidvania 'Lore Finder' has comfortably forgotten the Linux day-1 release promise" :PSure thing. This dev [External Link], who's alreay got a game out for Linux (MidBoss), is totally gonna forget about Linux. Sounds legit.

Quoting: GuestYeah! They should have done yet another first-person shooter based on a first-person shooter they already did!Quoting: kuhpunktnope enjoy the yet another card gameQuoting: GuestSo you will blatantly ignore everything I've said before?Quoting: kuhpunktValve is more interested in following the money then listening to the community that they used to claim to give a crap aboutQuoting: GuestHow did we go from this to it's a good game now? [External Link]Why don't you just answer the question? And just because people were pissed when it was announced (when aren't people pissed anyway?), doesn't mean it's the same people that like the game now. And even if they are the same people... maybe they should reserve their judgment? Just answer the question.
It seems they are just another trepel ayeee company who does not care about the people that made steam/valve successful in the first place
So enjoy this card game over portal 3 left 4 dead 3 half life 3 or an entirely new ip that sets a new standard for game design
you know?
the thing that made half life 1 and in turn valve successful in the first place

I'm not going to be playing Artifact, for the simple reason that I'm not good at card games so paying up front for the privilege of losing a lot has limited appeal.
However, it's a lot better than Valve becoming a sequel factory. Yeah, I've got some great nostalgia for the Half-Life series, but it's been a long time since HL 2ep2 came out (and let's be honest, it wasn't fantastic), and I've had loads of great experiences with loads of great games since then. So it's not the end of the world if I don't get Half-Life 3 but something else I like instead. It's okay. I'll just play In the Valley of Gods when it comes out, and maybe whatever other game Valve eventually releases, assuming it appeals to me. And I'll have fun with it, even if it's not a continuation of a fun experience I had fourteen years ago.
And y'know, that's okay. No point getting upset at a card game over it.

Feral Interactive are teasing another Linux port

Honestly, I'm not seeing Total War in this one. Which is probably the biggest surprise.
The art deco look of the art suggests something Bioshock related, but I'm not sure Bioshock 2 Remastered would bring much in the way of profits for Feral so I'd say that's a long shot. Longer than Skyrim, which it obviously is.

Vaporum has been on my radar for a while, and MidBoss is really tempting. I just have to remind myself that I'm not buying games right now.

I am very fond of MewnBase (unsurprising since I did an article here praising it), so it's great to see the new additions. Have to pull it out again and give it another run.
