Violent twin-stick shooter 'Hatred' is now officially out for Linux

Quoting: razing32I actually picked up Postal 2 on a sale recently
Great fun till I got to the final boss on Sunday. That just felt impossible. Have to try the expansion.
But Postal 2 had life and color , and plenty of parodies/caricatures.
This seems to be Postal 2 with none of that.
Yes, that is the main difference between Postal 2 and this game. This is just edgy and violent for the sake of being edgy and violent.
From what I saw from a couple of streams, even the edgy and violent gets blunt and dull after a while. The "shocking" execution scenes quickly become a chore when repeated 5-10 times, and murdering partyers doesn't have much challenge when they forget there's a killer in their midst after about 15 seconds and just wander back into your line of fire.

Oh, and all the bugs and glitches. I think those had the most entertainment value.

Gotta appreciate the story and acting, though. It takes real skill to make Tommy Wiseau look like a dramatic genius by comparision.

The studio also did a shovelware wave shooter called IS Defense, based on a paranoid fantasy of shooting brown invaders coming to take over Europe. Samsai played it on the GoL stream a while back, it was really badly made.

Aground, a 2D adventure RPG enters Early Access this month

Wow, I really don't like the sounds in this. Way too harsh and often too tinny for my taste, it would drive me nuts pretty quickly. I'd pass on this based on that alone.

UniverCity, an isometric university management game arrives in Early Access next month, developed on Linux

Quoting: GuestI wonder what aspects of a university the developer will model. Most people who come to my alma mater come to try to find a way to avoid menial jobs, get drunk nay become alcoholics or find a mate.
The most dedicated drunks I ever ran into were law students, with engineers running a close second.

What are you playing this weekend?

Quoting: ExpalphalogUndertale. I am enjoying the cutesy story and the cheesy humor but I hate bullet hell games so the 'combat' is a chore.
That's what made me give up on the game. Watching Samsai play some of the later battles, clever as they are, convinced me that was the right idea.

As for me, still working my way through the Room series of puzzle games. I got Old Sins recently, but I want to re-play the original trilogy before I get into that.

Jenny LeClue, a very interesting metanarrative adventure game releases this year with Linux support

Oh, I remember the demo for this ages ago. It looked really fun, and I always wondered whatever happened to it.

Snap! The new Minecraft launcher now has another easy way to be installed on Linux
24 Jul 2018 at 12:45 pm UTC

I get that flatpaks and snaps are easy to install, but what's never been clear to me is are they as easy to update as PPAs for instance? Or do I have to go to every single piece of software I use and keep them updated manually and individually?

The Humble DRM-Freedom Sale is live, plenty of Linux titles available

Quoting: KelsOddly, it lists Evoland 2 as a Linux game when it isn't.The devs promised it around the time of launch and never delivered.
Maybe it is the port, it just wasn't announced? Has anyone bought it and verified it can natively install on Linux?
I redeemed the Steam key, and was told it was not available for my system. It was part of a bundle I got for something else, so no real loss.

Interestingly, it's also listed on Wikipedia as being for Linux. Presumably thanks to promises by the dev that were later broken.

The visual style of this looks a bit different from the Artifex Mundi games I've played. It reminds me a lot of Tiny Bang Story, which I loved.

Cute survival game 'MewnBase' has a refreshed UI and Thunder Storms

Mewn Base is a wonderful game. I can't wait to see where it goes.

The dev made a cute little PICO-8 breakout game [External Link] on the side too.
