Mostly just looking at a couple Stellaris DLC this year, but I admit Streets of Rogue is tempting. Either that or the base game for Cities Skylines, but that goes on sale about 15 times a year anyway, so it's hardly a rush.
How to be a great advocate for a niche gaming platform

I'm a non-technical person myself for the most part, and one thing I appreciate about the more mainstream distros like Ubuntu is that for most problems all you need to do is a quick internet search and copy-paste the first solution you find. It takes a lot of the stress out of minor fixes and tweaks, and ties in with the earlier comments about how Linux users as a rule are good at bug reporting.
A lot of the distros have ways to set up the desktop in a similar way to Windows (MATE's "Redmond" layout, for instance) which makes the adoption process easier as well. People like having a familiar setup, and if they get adventurous later on it's pretty easy to change.
As to rebooting though, I do find I have to reboot way more than I'd like to. Sometimes that's for updates, but more often for lockups and weird interactions between things like Discord and other programs, or maybe pulseaudio being a butt again and disabling the mute feature or whatever. Part of that is likely because I have an older machine, but not entirely. The fortunate part is that Linux generally starts up really fast, so it's really not that much of a hardship, but it's something that does happen and we have to remember that it's troubling to new users.

I'm sure it's a great game for folks into that stuff, and a lot of people are excited over it. But I was honestly hoping it'd be something a bit different from the same series they've been putting out for ages. I'd love to see them do a game like Hellblade or Dark Souls Remastered or something else that broadens the Linux canon. But alas.

Quoting: GuestLooks like it's Total War: Warhammer 2. Honestly, I have no idea how that relates to the given tip. I was really hoping it was Hellblade, but oh well.So they laboured mightily and brought forth a mouse, eh?

For all the trouble they went to making all those cool and surprisingly exhaustive menus, they seriously dropped the ball there.

Quoting: GuestI had the same problem. For a new player it's incredibly non-intuitive, and nothing in the initial menus makes it clear you have to go two levels down in order to choose which game you're playing.Quoting: Ray54My Steam library entry for Serious Sam Fusion now has 3 items: The First Encounter, flat support and BFE. However, when I start Fusion it automatically goes into BFE. I was expecting a menu in Fusion giving me an option of First Encounter or BFE (as I have no separate First Encounter game listed in Linux Steam)?Have you opened the campaign menu? Fusion chooses the theme of the latest game you have for the menu, so if you have SS3, then it'll always boot with SS3 theme. But in the campaign menu you should see all campaigns that you have access for.

Hm. Okay, I now have the SS complete collection and SS3, but when I run Fusion it only gives me the option to play SS3. Is there something special I need to do for it to run the other games?
EDIT: Oh wow, that's misleading! The main menu says "Serious Sam 3" at the top with no way to change it. But if you hit new game and then either Campaign or Survival, that's where the previous games are. Somehow that doesn't seem well planned.

Quoting: GuestOh, that makes things look a lot better. I had no idea.Quoting: KelsHuh. Looking at the sale page again, I see that out of the SS games, only 3 and Bogus Detour have the Linux logo. That limits the options a bit.TFE and TSE also have Linux versions. They don't have Linux logo on their respective pages since standalone versions are Windows only, but with them you get access to Serious Sam Fusion, which works on Linux natively and has built-in TFE and TSE campaigns (you can play them in Fusion if you own respective standalone games).

And yeah, I know Talos is awesome. I just have a lack of good Mr. Shooty Mans in my game library that this would fill.
