PCGamingWiki Looks At Tropico 5 And Borderlands 2 Linux Ports

I play games on Linux. It's already a gaming platform :)
"Forcing" developers who don't want to to support Linux is only going to result in more bad ports, IMO.
If there are people who have positive experiences from the games in question, then that's great for them. That's why reports like these which highlight discrepancies are important - they can provide perspective and goals which developers can reach toward to develop best practices without requiring users to pretend that they're not enjoying the games that they're playing.

I should've done it yesterday, but I've removed the links and specific details from an earlier post which seemed more sincere in its recommendation for harassment.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroSorry, it was meant as tongue-in-cheek, wasn't serious but that didn't come across obviously. But yeah, probably not a good idea.Yeah, you've got to be super careful with stuff like that. A joke can easily be interpreted as a call-to-action by less sensible people (even if it's got a "just kidding!" disclaimer attached) :(

Two wrongs don't make a right. Stooping to that kind of silliness won't help anybody.
For anybody who has trouble with time zones, here's some time conversion goodness [External Link].

I can't understand why anybody would want to do that when they can just run it, but yeah, that's another option.

By the way, there've been a couple of reports of people having problems with audio not working. The devs are on it, but in the meantime, launching the game outside of Steam seems to help.

One thing to be aware of is that "hidden" files aren't really hidden as such. That's stuff that applications and libraies implement individually rather than something that happens at the file system level, which is a sort of defacto standard resulting from an early Unix bug, which provides an unreliable and perhaps wasteful way of "hiding" files.
Rob Pike did a nice little write up [External Link] a couple of years back if anybody's keen to learn more.

I've been meaning/wanting for a while now to write an XDG advocacy page to help developers understand the value of supporting it (a little like the early HTML5 advocacy sites). It's just a matter of being able to find the time.
People should definitely recommend to their favourite developers that they follow the XDG spec (for more than just saves) though - every voice counts!
