Nuclear Dawn Will Come To Linux After All, Thanks To Valve

This is a prime example of how the attitudes and reactions of Linux users can shape outcomes. This didn't come about because people got cranky and ranty. This happened because one fan [External Link] who was deeply disappointed went the extra mile in contacting both InterWave and someone from Valve and got a dialogue happening in an effort to clear things up and get a port moving forward.
It's totally fair to expect compensation when plans which have been publicly announced from official sources change, but there are a) polite ways of asking for that, and b) more potential for positive outcomes if a little bit of effort is put in to engage with developers instead of berating them.
I'm super proud to have played a role in this (even if it was only as a messenger) and I can't wait to play ND with you all at some stage in the future :D

I've updated the article with Antikythera [External Link] (which now has a correct download URL for the Linux build) and Arshavir [External Link], which now has Linux and Mac OS versions available!

Quoting: SpeedsterThese games could go in a new category of the wiki, with people contributing screenshots and their impressionsI'm in two minds about such a thing. Almost all of the games' profiles include screenshots and videos as well as relevant development posts, and the 7DFPS site provides some filtering based on platform. On one hand it'd be great to further highlight Linux compatible titles, but on the other, it'd be awesome to see more Linux user activity on the 7DFPS site.
Yes in theory I could start such page, but really too busy at the moment so hoping for another volunteer

Oh whoops. I should have chimed in on this a while back. The Humble Store version does indeed get you the Linux version as well as a key that is redeemable on both Steam and the Chrome store thingy.
It looks like the platform icons were removed to make room for extra text (which all doesn't quite fit at the moment anyway).

I first checked this out for the mini-review article thingy we did of 2x0ng'spublic beta. It's super cool. Takes a little bit to get into, those familiar with some of the games it pays homage to/draws upon will probably find it easier to appreciate, but regardless it's got a great vibe at its core and is good, addictive fun:D

Quoting: GbudnyThe Desurium community developers have done some groundwork [External Link] with regards to getting a Mac version running, though there's still a lot more work to be done. Since we're pushing out release candidates at the moment, and our goal is to have a solid first release for Linux and Windows, I don't expect we'll be focusing on Mac support until after we've had a release.Quoting: Scott ReismanisHey guys, Scott here from Desura. Rest assured this means big things for Linux and Desura as a whole. For a while we have been held back with limited resources available. The addition of employees to the team will allow us to improve the client, support more games, so expect significant progress to be made over the coming monthsWhen do you plan to release a Mac version of Desura or Desurium?

Quoting: SabunNice review man! I wonder what the consumer price for this will be, and more importantly when it'll be out and about for purchase :)Neither of those are clear at the moment, but fingers crossed that the consumer price won't be too far from the devkit price and that it'll be soon! :D
