Wadjet Eye Games Running A Closed Linux Beta
6 Feb 2013 at 11:59 am UTC

This game is outstanding. I first discovered it when we played it for Game Club last year and was blown away. We also had a great dev chat with creator Joshua Nuernberger (log can be found here [External Link] for anybody who's interested).

The game's plot is superbly paced, and the (moderately forgiving) action elements make for a much more tense experience than many point and click adventure games. The art design is charming and the voice acting isn't too bad (a little rough in places, but still enjoyable).

A fantastic homage to classic point and click adventure games whilst still giving something new. I give it an x out of n for large values of x.

Steam's January 2013 hardware survey is on, Linux is growing
6 Feb 2013 at 12:11 am UTC

Mint isn't included in the Ubuntu stats. In fact, it shows up as a separate item in the January results if you know where to look, suggesting that the "Other" category also includes other distros. There are stacks of possible Mac OS configurations and a few possible Windows versions that aren't included in the main stats, so it's difficult to know how much representation there is in there.  The fact that the "Other" category has only gone up by a cumulative 0.19% since the "Other" category was introduced suggests that its representation of Linux in the 0.76% "Other" category is most likely much less than half.

I made a news post [External Link] about it in the SteamLUG group a couple of days ago.
The real surprise is the first appearance of Linux Mint 14 (64 bit) in the survey results when "Windows Only" is selected, showing not only that additional distributions are represented in the results, but also that the "Other" category must include those additional distros when viewing "Windows and Mac" stats (providing that it's not a bug, of course).

The Cave indie game delayed a week!
2 Feb 2013 at 5:23 am UTC

Linux depots went up on Steam last night, so they're at least testing it at the moment. Fingers crossed it isn't too far away (it's also hard to tell from Justin's post whether he's talking about the week just gone, or an additional week's worth of delay).

We're going to be playing The Cave for Game Club later this month (and Ron should be joining us). It'll be pretty neat :D

Waveform now available on Humble Store DRM-Free and Steam Key
31 Jan 2013 at 8:21 pm UTC

Just had a quick chat with flibitijibibo (who did the Linux port), and apparently the subsystem causing the crashes is not in the DRM free version, and there's a Steam update that's likely to be not too far away :)

Quoting: JKIs this the same build as the one from LGP? Or a new one?
A new build. Egosoft hired someone last year to do ports internally.
