Maybe so, but this wasn't exactly hard to predict based on the discounts Square Enix tends to give their games a year after release.

Pretty much the only notable difference is PCI Express 4.0 support, which might or might not be worth it to you. I got a X470 board myself and used some of the cash I saved on better RAM.

I found the control scheme in Alwa's Awakening a bit awkward. I was a beta tester, and there were moments when I might have given up if I wasn't one, due to what I felt was a completely unnecessary source of frustration. In the end I'm glad I didn't. I completed the game and mostly enjoyed the experience.

Won't back this one, but will buy. I have no doubt they'll get funded.

The problems amount to performance problems and instability using the default OpenGL backend and one glitchy shader as far as I can tell. The developer tried his best to fix it all, but I guess he couldn't get it all shipshape before he had to move on to his next project. Launch with -force-glcore42 and the game works just fine, at least for me.

But then I tried to play it. Performance is terrible, somewhat playable on 'low' graphics, but it looks bad then. Ok, I have just a laptop (even if called 'gaming'), but for such a simple game it should be enough.

And then it crashed, just after solving the first puzzle… :-(

Try adding "-force-glcore42" to your launch options. That fixes the performance (mostly) and stability problems for me.

What do you mean? Adding a PPA isn't that hard. :)

AMD does still seem to have trouble supporting their new hardware properly at launch with their open source drivers, as evidenced by the RX 5700. That leads to people jumping through all kinds of hoops to install bleeding edge stuff to get things running properly. Doesn't mean all AMD users have to do it though. I'd have gone back to Nvidia already if that was the case.
