Quoting: GustyGhostAlso on itch.io.The situation might change after the article is written. If you think tags need to be updated, you can always message the author (without the guilt trip preferably).
I would like to trust the gamestore specific tags on GoL articles but they don't get applied consistently. :(

* gitolite
In order of decreasing resource usage. (maybe more?)

Quoting: BTRESince we had opposite experiences it looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree :)I guess it would be a bit silly to expect everyone to have the same taste in entertainment. It's not like we're talking about hard facts here so it's perfectly natural to have different experiences. In matters of taste there are only opinions. Professional art experts and critics can go cry in a corner. :P

Quoting: BTREI mentioned Rogue Legacy in the review and that's definitely a metroidvania that works really well because of the randomization, not in spite of it. Maybe it's the exception that proves the rule, as I don't think I've seen another game pull the combination off well, but I just don't think that it's as black and white as you're putting it.The thing is, Rogue Legacy doesn't work very well for me. It just bores me in the same way sandboxes do. Not enough sense of progression or accomplishment. I don't get at all the same feeling from it as I get from a traditional metroidvania. It's a competent platformer of course, and it clearly takes cues from the metroidvania genre. I just think it leaves out something essential and replaces it with something lacklustre and tedious.

Quoting: no_information_hereI know I sound like a grumpy old man, but there are too many games coming out that claim to be both Metroidvania and Roguelike. Everyone wants to have a catchy new thing to advertise, but this just doesn't work.Thanks for writing what I was too lazy to put into words.
Metroidvania games are hand-crafted, with everything exactly where it was the last time you played through. The story unfolds from gradually opening up new areas and knowing that, if you miss something in the first playthrough, it will still be there the next time you play the game. Permadeath and Procedural generation are exactly the opposite of everything that Metroidvania games require. Power-ups and bosses are not enough to make something a Metroidvania. The word is going to lose all meaning.

You can get Hearts of Iron IV cheap in new Humble Monthly bundle

In the end I still prefer buying individual games, and wouldn't buy many bundles if I could afford to be picky.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPI just don't like the idea of the Monthly Bundle subscription model, and that's why I won't subscribe. As I said, the ability to choose who gets my money is a big plus in the normal bundles. The late unlocks don't matter much in that case, because by then I've already selected who gets my cash. The Monthly would not allow me to do that.Quoting: tuubiGames in a bundle are revealed as time goes by.Quoting: TheSHEEEPI know. I just prefer paying for games I actually want instead of buying bundles that may or may not contain nice games. I guess I'm not a gambler?Quoting: tuubiYou can just get the monthly, get the games, and immediately cancel it. And then activate it later if another deal you like appears. It's really simple, I did that a few times already.Quoting: GuestThe other Linux compatible games added to the June bundle are :I'd consider paying 10 euros for a package deal with just these two games, but the monthly subscription format just rubs me the wrong way.

- Yooka Layle
If you buy very early, then yes, it is kind of a gamble.
But simply wait until the timer runs out and you know what's inside.
Nobody forces you to get a bundle early before everything is revealed.
Don't ask me why they do that late reveal stuff, though. I also find it weird.
In the end I still prefer buying individual games, and wouldn't buy many bundles if I could afford to be picky.

At least in normal humble bundles I can see what I'm getting beforehand and even choose to direct my money to those developers whose games I'm actually going to install and play.
