Techland haven't decided if Dying Light 2 will be on Linux

I'm fully committed to "no tux no bux", but I don't feel like that entitles me to anything. It's the sense of entitlement and/or not giving a shit that mostly leads to piracy, not some funny slogan.

Quoting: PatolaProbably just as much as you do. :PQuoting: tuubiI understand you think people might think/behave like this, but do you have data or any empirical basis to back that up?Quoting: PatolaDoes the motto "no tux no bux" lead to that? No. This is politician talk. The slogan can be used as an excuse after the fact, but it doesn't lead to piracy.

Basemark GPU is a new benchmark tool that supports Linux and many different APIs

Quoting: yar4eInstalls without problems on Mint 18.3, but after install you need to execute chmod -R o+rx /opt/BasemarkGPU to make it run from ordinary user. Benchmarking process looks very strange though :)For me it ran just fine when I simply extracted the BasemarkGPU folder from the deb package and executed the launcher. I didn't bother running the benchmark though, I was just curious about the "experience mode".

Also please go reread the previous thread if you didn't get enough of that pointless discussion already.

Quoting: devnullIf that's the case I demand a gender called "Penguin".Why the sarcasm? That's an excellent suggestion. They'll have to watch Pingu for proper pronouns. Probably along the lines of "noot" or "meep".

Quoting: TheSHEEEPCheck again. The package is clearly visible in the published packages list on the linked page. Maybe you were tripped up by the fact that they dropped the nvidia-396 naming scheme and you'll want to install nvidia-driver-396 instead?Quoting: Sputnik_tr_02Thanks, but that is what I have already, and the latest one available on that (at least for Ubuntu 18.04) is 390.Quoting: TheSHEEEP396.24.02 for NVIDIA?I am using this [External Link] ppa, never had issues with it on my system, you may want to try.
Oof... the one currently in the packages is 390.48.
Trying to install more recent drivers from NVidias website has always resulted in completely messing up the graphics drivers - aka nothing works anymore until you repair the X configuration files, etc. Extremely bothersome, so I've stopped using anything that's not in the official packages.
The Underhollow, a Battle Royale-like mode for Dota 2 is live and it's damn fun

This is Rogue [External Link] and popular Rogue-likes are games like Ancient Domains of Mystery [External Link], Tales of Maj'Eyal [External Link] and Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup [External Link]. It's really easy to see how they qualify for the term. Rogue-lite should probably mean that the game draws some inspiration or features from these classic dungeon crawlers, but the "genre" is stretched to oblivion by being generously applied to anything with generated levels, random loot or permadeath.
And of course all genres have been made up by reviewers or game devs. In the end religiously adhering to genre definitions can only limit a developer's creativity anyway, so I wouldn't worry about their application too much. Genres are useful in describing and categorizing games but arguing about them is a bit pointless.

Quoting: GuppyBattle Royale seems to require at least the basic elements of the older game modes you described plus the addition of an initially large but shrinking play area. I'm no expert though.Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWhat means "Battle Royale-like mode?:huh:Near as I kan tell "Battle Royal" refers to the game modes from quake era games that were called "Last man standing" or "King of the Hill"
Is like when you say "Rogue-like"... I don't understand the meaning.
"Rogue" - refers to games with randomly generated play levels/dungeons and permadeath
"Rogue-like" - as above but some or levels are hand crafted ( and permadeath may be optional )
"Rogue-lite" - permadeath is not a thing or optional

The hypothetical problem you describe could be solved with a single disclaimer and a safe default.

Quoting: noxThing is, valve likely wants to make sure that they aren't the reason why IP addresses are being leaked, regardless of how dumb users are.Oh yes, the Apple / lowest common denominator school of software design: Every user is an idiot, and if they aren't, they probably didn't want to do anything "advanced" anyway.

Quoting: noxThat particular problem would be one of UI design. The user should not be allowed to "forget about" something important. But Valve isn't likely to consider this worth their time, so this is getting a bit academic.Quoting: tuubiYes, and then the whole point of protecting the users IP is gone. It's easy to imagine someone turning on p2p, forgetting about it, accepting an invite from someone, accepting or joining a call...Quoting: Doc AngeloThat's okay though if you trust the people you chat with. So I guess it could work as an option.Quoting: devnullIndeed. p2p should always be an option though. The issues with voice and trading are signaling, requiring an active connection to steam is silly. You can't have p2p without giving away your IP to those chatting with you.
