You can get Hearts of Iron IV cheap in new Humble Monthly bundle

Quoting: GuestThe other Linux compatible games added to the June bundle are :
- Bear with me collector edition
- Yooka Layle
I'd consider paying 10 euros for a package deal with just these two games, but the monthly subscription format just rubs me the wrong way.

I hope Adobe also gets on board the Linux train before we die.
What specific Adobe product would you like to see on Linux? Photoshop?
I doubt they would port some part of the "creative suite" without the rest, looking at their current business model. Of course, this isn't likely to happen any time soon.

I'd have enough on my plate even if there were no new releases this year, but here's one I don't think anyone mentioned yet: 7 Billion Humans [External Link] by Tomorrow Corporation.

Quoting: RafiLinuxI will say that the next game that I plan to get must be a text based game since I've been going back to a lot of text based games and playing a lot of freeware VNs.
It you haven't already, take a look at Thaumistry. That one's text based for sure. Thimbleweed Park made me dare to play such a game again.
The recently "ported" Spellcasting [External Link] series on GOG isn't a bad choice either, if you don't mind classics with bit of naughty humour.

WWI FPS 'Tannenberg' adds in a Roumanian infantry squad and a new map

Quoting: Whitewolfe80nice try where was your selective reading "Modern Romania was formed in 1859 through a personal union of the Danubian Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia. The new state, officially named Romania since 1866, gained independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1877. At the end of World War I,"
In English, the name of the country was originally borrowed from French "Roumania" (<"Roumanie" ), then evolved into "Rumania", but was eventually replaced after World War II by the name used officially: "Romania".

Action-adventure game 'Chasm' to finally release this summer with Linux support

I'll be keeping my eye on this.

BTW, those Japanese-style bouncy idle animations are always fun. The part in the trailer where a lady is being freed from a cage (0:27 or so) looks like a silly little dance. :D

Quoting: Mountain ManIs this a real RPG, or is it just an adventure game with stats?

And by "real RPG", I mean does it have actual choices and consequences that affect individual quests and the overall story? Or does it offer typical JRPG "choices", as in no choice at all?

"Do you want to rescue my uncle?"

>No

"Ha ha! You're a such a joker. Of course you want to rescue him. Let's go!"
...The line between RPG and adventure has always been vague.
Not really. I think Warren Spector put it best: An RPG is any game where you can change if not the outcome of the story then at least the way it is told.
So, if an adventure game has lots of choices and different endings, it's suddently an RPG? Personally I'm fine with vague genre definitions, because otherwise we end up with nothing but clones and slight variations, and a gazillion niche genres consisting of three games or so.

Quoting: Mountain ManOr as someone from BioWare once said, "Just because you put a 'J' in front of it doesn't make it an RPG."
Yes, he stated the obvious. Well done him.

Quoting: Mountain ManThe only JRPG I can think of off the top of my head that I would classify as a real RPG is ChronoTrigger.
It's a great game, but not the only JRPG with choices and consequences.

BTW, is this déjà vu or did we already have this conversation a few months ago?

Unforeseen Incidents is a fantastic point and click adventure now out with Linux support

Thanks for the review. Made me push the game much closer to the top of my wishlist.

This I don't actually care about. I'm fine with a fairly linear story as long as it's interesting. And yes, it can still be a "real" RPG in the computer game sense even if you can't do absolutely anything you want and in any order you please. The line between RPG and adventure has always been vague.

Quoting: someg33zerWhat is a "JRPG"?
Japanese-style RPG, as in Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, the Tales series etc. It's a commonly used term.
