It would be weird if they hadn't been working with game developers on Vulkan backends. They wouldn't be stupid enough to do their first Vulkan driver releases without any testing on real game engines, right? I'm sure NVidia and even Intel are doing the exact same thing. Also, I'd bet these games are all very recent or upcoming big budget titles.
XCOM 2 is starting to look mighty interesting

Maybe there's hope that these timers are only there to make the players choose between missions (as you won't have time to do them all), and not to make missions themselves more stressful.

Quoting: BeamboomOh no, please - no timers. :(Seconded. Timed missions only lead to frustration.

For kicks, let's hope they're just waiting for Vulkan.

Quoting: GuestStill waiting for that new Valve title to drop. Makes me paranoid they're still wanting to put on a massive show and do a "hard launch" for Steam Machines at some point.A new Portal would indeed be awesome. ;)

Aren't you guys just tickled pink seeing all the diversity in what people are playing on Linux right now? I know I am. Too bad I haven't personally had time to play much of anything lately. Heck, my wife's used my Steam account more than I have in the last couple of weeks. Playing Papers, Please and Race the Sun. :)
Oculus Rift VR headset will support Linux after release, looking like it's going to be pricey

Echoing Liam here, but I can't see myself enjoying anything at all with a huge gadget strapped to my face. Screw immersion if that's what it takes. I have trouble enough dealing with heavy headphones, let alone these monstrosities.
Of course I see this appealing to a certain crowd, and I'm sure a portion of them have the disposable income for this kind of lunacy. I'm definitely not part of that crowd though.

Quoting: TheBossI look forward to using the Itch.io store more due to this, as I hate manually checking for updates and doing them myself, as I have such limited time nowadays.Speaking of which, I wonder if GOG will ever actually launch Galaxy on Linux. I've been using Steam more and more lately due to the convenience, even though there are a lot of things I seriously dislike about the whole games-as-a-service business model and all the social features I couldn't care less about.
Rocket League will be on SteamOS & Linux before the Xbox One in February

I so want this game! And I really want to like it. This could very well be the first multi-player time-waster I can get into in the last... fifteen years or so.
Feel like fragging? You can do that in your browser with QuakeJS

Quoting: khalismurWhy exactly do you want to own a game, anyway? You didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway: For the same reason I want to own my hardware and my kitchen table. It shouldn't be anyone's business what I choose to do or not to do with a product I've bought, including giving it away or modifying it in any manner that happens to strike my fancy. The rate at which we keep losing our rights as consumers is scary as hell. And the product-as-service loophole grows ever wider.
Quoting: khalismurThe world will be soon 100% online anyway (like it or not! I, for once, don't like it. But it's the way it is...)Happily that particular sci-fi utopia/dystopia won't happen any time soon. At least not as long as we have physical bodies and live in a physical world.
DoubleFine seem to have attracted a bit of a mess with Psychonauts 2 funding

In any case, fig is just another indication of the direction business is heading. Just stay out of crowd funding and micro-investment - or whatever the buzzword of the day might be - if you don't like it. I know you won't see me backing anything closed-source any time soon. I'd rather pay for a finished product and enjoy my rapidly eroding consumer rights while I can.

Quoting: neffoThis guy has an agenda, but it likely has nothing to do with preventing people from losing money. He certainly has opinions, just like the rest of us. That doesn't always implicate an agenda. Only had time to skim the video, so maybe I missed the grander scheme he's pushing.

Quoting: FutureSutureAbsolutely. I never intended to belittle the efforts of these developers. Nine is an awesome project, and so are AMD's open source drivers. Not to forget wine, although personally I haven't used it for gaming in ages. I simply thought the exact nature of these projects might not be obvious to all readers.Quoting: tuubiMy point is, this combination of nine and radeonsi is awesome, but only for running older windows games with wine. There are plenty of quality games that use DirectX 9 and are extremely unlikely to come to Linux. I am sure many Linux gamers would love to play Dishonored, for example. It came out in 2012, so it's an older game now, but still, I doubt Linux gamers would mind considering how we seem to be primarily targeted by indie developers.
