Quoting: ElectricPrismI hated GRID 1 because of the realistic controls, maybe if it looks fun in the Live Stream I'd like it. I want something like Twisted Metal or Burnout Paradise - Dirt Showdown quenches most of that style but I wish it was open world ;(I want good old Driver San Fransisco on Linux. It beats Burnout Paradise hands down.

Quoting: inlinuxdudeWith their base of operations in Finland, origin of one Linus Torvalds, one would think they would put their tools out for Linux just for the sake of that! :)That never motivated the Helsinki-based Futuremark to port 3DMark to Linux. Not that we would have had much use for Direct3D benchmarks. :P

Indivisible is now fully funded and within reach of the first stretch goal with 42 hours left on the clock. Skullgirls wasn't quite my cup of tea even though it looks fantastic, but this one I'm eager to play.

Although I sure wouldn't mind if Witcher 3 got ported at some point. The rest of them... meh.

The Dark Mod became more graphically impressive in their last update

Still, I hope someone takes up the task, as SDL 2 solves several problems every cross platform game has to tackle anyway.

Quoting: adolsonThat's great and all, but The Dark Mod doesn't use SDL at all right now. If it were such an easy task as you guys seem to think, it would be done by now.Ah, implementing SDL support from scratch can be a whole different can of worms indeed. I don't know why I thought you were discussing migration from SDL 1. Sorry about that.

New Linux Gamer Survey For December

Quoting: ShabbyXI strongly advise against requiring login for the surveys. In the very least, you should have an "anonymous" option. The prefill part could be done without requiring login. Your answers for the recurring questions could be (optionally) stored in a cookie for filling in the next time you take the survey. In any case a home grown solution would be better than relying on Google, IMHO.

In reality the "cost" of migration from SDL 1 to 2 depends very much on the specifics of the project. I don't see how it would ever require any "serious" refactoring, but it is entirely possible there's something about The Dark Mod's codebase that makes this more difficult than it should be. Anyway, this is what the official migration guide [External Link] says:

Quoting: adolsonWow, you really know how to motivate people. I'm taking notes here. You should be a community manager of some sort. :)Quoting: GuestSince you're so experienced and think it's so important, step up and contribute. Otherwise, I call bullshit on your "experience".Quoting: MajorLunaC@stan I think he laughed because it was sort of an insult to consider that an extensive task, especially done for free, would be considered easy. I'm guessing you're not a programmer in any way, so I don't see how you would put your estimate when you have no idea of what's involved.Looks like you both missed the "in my experience" part of my reply.

We think you'll find it's not as hard as you think, and often times, you'll be either replacing function calls with direct equivalents or undoing some hacks in your code to deal with 1.2 deficiencies. My personal experience with SDL is limited to say the least, but so far I have no reason to call bullshit.
GOG have put up some serious classics for Linux, such as Cannon Fodder

I understand this might not be the most profitable thing to spend your time on, but how actively and aggressively do you push for Linux releases of old, wrapped games? Do the developers/IP owners even know the platform exists? Can you show them favourable statistics on your other multi-platform offerings for an incentive? Am I asking too many questions? :)

Quoting: JudasIscariotWe have to get permission to make Linux-compatible versions first before we can offer them in such a way.Naturally you (GOG) need permission from developers. What I don't get is why any of them might refuse an additional platform or two when no effort is required on their part.

Quoting: OlDrunkI considered Infinifactory but MineCraft with mods has already been doing that for a few years now and I'm just getting over that long, long addiction but did learn some Lua and old school Forth programming.I've never tried Minecraft or its mods so I can't say how similar they are, but Infinifactory really makes you think about your solutions and optimize obsessively, very much like TIS. That's why I thought you might like it.

Quoting: OlDrunkTIS-100 is fun, in a wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of code solutions to puzzles kind of way(I think just wrecked my life). Then you'll probably love/hate Infinifactory as well. TIS-100 is awesome though.
