Need to chill? Check out Forest's Secret, a free nonviolent adventure

Quoting: Liam DaweIt's made with Java and for the Linux version, it seems to need OpenJDK 8 as it didn't work with later versions. So you can run it directly (on Arch as an example install this and lwjgl) with:

'/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk/jre/bin/java' -jar 'forests_secret_v2_1.jar'
Same problem on Mint (and Ubuntu I suppose). The game works after installing the package openjdk-8-jre and running with:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java -jar forests_secret_v2_1.jar

If you want to run it through the Itch app, just create a simple shell script containing the above launch command in the game's install directory and mark it executable. The app will pick it up automatically.

Looks pretty. The graphical style reminds me a bit of concept art shots for higher budget games. Maybe it's the blue/orange colour scheme?

Quoting: tuubiI guess you never played Sierra's classic adventures. Or Grim Fandango with its awesome/awful tank controls. :)
The actual old Sierra classics certainly didn't have tank controls.
Sure. Didn't mean to imply they did.

Quoting: EhvisPress cursor key to start walking in that direction, press it again to stop walking. And with that you had to safely pass under dripping acid. :D
I had tons of fun with these games, but I sure didn't mind when Lucasarts came along with the radical idea that adventure games didn't absolutely need to have fiddly movement and a hundred different ways to die.

Quoting: dziadulewiczI only hope the game would come also mouse controlled. In a way those classic adventure games are. Moving with arrow keys feels somewhat "off" but maybe it's just me.

Quoting: The_Aquabatthey say that bioses for 450/470 won't come until December I see this as an AMD move to force you to upgrade the mobo.
Surely not. Unless they're also forcing you to upgrade your CPU before December.

Quoting: appetrosyanYou can get a similar experience on BSPWM, and Sway, and to a much more experimental extent on river, but not on Compiz (XFCE, unity), Metacity forks (Cinnamon, Mate, XFCE, Gnome), Clutter (Gnome) or OpenBOX.
Just a small correction: Neither Xfce's compositing window manager Xfwm nor Compton (probably the most popular replacement compositor among Xfce users) are Metacity forks.
My mistake, should have said compiz.
You did. :D

Xfce still uses Xfwm by default and it was developed from scratch.
I'd argue you can count Xfce users who use anything but Xfwm or Compton with your fingers ;)
Also just to make this clear, Compton is based on Xcompmgr, not Compiz or Metacity.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80So for me its more interesting to see how many systems brick trying to get the bios update
Do you expect many bricked systems for some reason? Unless you have no idea what you're doing (in which case you shouldn't be installing a new CPU anyway), updating your bios isn't especially risky these days.

You can now order a PC case that looks like the classic Commodore 64

I grew up with a Commodore 64, then an Amiga 500, but I don't understand why anyone would yearn to return to the beige years of computing. These were great systems back in the day, but they were no beauties.

That said, I do know a few people who'd be all over these.

Looking forward to this.

Thanks for mentioning Hiding Spot. Never heard of it before. I enjoyed Pipe Push Paradise and apparently this one is available for Linux as well. Too bad A Monster's Expedition isn't.
