Valve Officially Drop Paid Mods

Quoting: kalinI don't care about the way I just want to have the opportunity to pay them.
I would still like to see an option like this in the workshop, if Valve didn't take too much of the amount donated anyway.

Windows Games On Linux, WINE & PlayOnLinux

PlayOnLinux can be very user friendly but can also be too simple for its own good. My favorite Wine Helper is a nice Qt based application called Q4Wine. While not super user friendly, you can set up multiple prefixes, custom and integrated Desktop files, easy Winetricks support and many more features.

Linux Lagging Behind On Minecraft User Statistics

Quoting: FergleFerglesonI can't imagine that MS's acquisition of Minecraft has exactly endeared it to the linux-faithful. But for me, the real surprise:

Windows 95 - 1076

There shouldn't be that many Win95 boxes left. Period. Let alone running MC. :)
What's shocking is that there is more Windows 95 players than 98. What the?

Something that would interest me (but maybe not others) is what sound system Linux users have. It would be interesting to see how many use ALSA solely, or in combination with JACK or PulseAudio, or they use OSS4 and forget ALSA altogether.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Confirmed For Linux
19 Nov 2014 at 2:24 pm UTC

This is great news! I really loved Geometry Wars on the 360, but I always felt the PC release was mediocre in comparison. Not only does it look like they're going to bring the same love to PC with this sequel, but with Linux included! Definitely going to get this when it comes out.

Insurgency FPS Is Waiting On Valve So It Can Come To Linux (UPDATED)
9 Nov 2014 at 11:14 pm UTC

I thought CS:GO was really developed by another company, and Valve had very little to do with it at all (which also explains why the Linux port was a bit shite when it came out). So isn't this more of Hidden Path Entertainment and the Insurgency team who need to be communicating on this?

3D Realms Aiming to Release Anthology Collection for Linux
26 Oct 2014 at 9:15 pm UTC

It's nice to see re-releases of some classic titles with Cross-Platform support. id Software has had the opportunity to do this for so many years via Steam, but it seems Zenimax wants them putting no effort at all towards Mac or Linux. Such a shame really, especially since up until Quake 4 there were official Linux ports.

Unreal Tournament Has Public Builds Available For All Platforms Now

It's interesting that the Linux and OS X versions are way smaller compared to the Windows releases.

GOG Officially Confirm Their Galaxy Client For Linux, Plus More News

From what I understand AvP has its source on Github, so it's entirely possible they're planning to do it but that's really wishful thinking. I've always loved this game, so I hope we can get a native client rather than a wine wrapper or just running it through wine.

I understand it may be difficult to deal with "trolls" and general internet hate speech. I've had to deal with a great amount of it in the past to be honest. I'm not defending anyone here, nor am I saying you should limit your freedom of speech, but obviously talking about some subject like Lennart will bring up a lot of bad attention towards you. I don't think there's anything wrong with being controversial if you have a good point (not saying my own controversy was particularly a good point), but acknowledging the people who harass you online will only give them more power. The best way to deal with "trolls" is to ignore them, pure and simple. I also feel this type of acknowledgement and blame can be harmful as well. And no, this does NOT mean you should ignore constructive criticism, people have labeled this as "trolling" before and it's rather sad.

I think I'm going to remove my subscription from LGC. Besides not watching them in a while, if they're going to start this type of drama and bullshit for no good reason, then I really don't care to be a part of it. I hope GoL doesn't start becoming more drama infested too...

Just a last thing I wonder, why were comments disabled on Liam's post? Or was that just my end?
