Wartales started out awesome for me. I love turn based rpgs. And the overworld is SOOOO well done with the unique graphical style, and exploration, etc...

What killed it for me was the insane difficulty + permadeath of squadmates. It took me SOOOO long to get a good squad built up, like in terms of real life hours spent, and then the game would hit you with scenarios where it's pretty much impossible not to lose a squadmate, which in terms of "winning" is still totally fine. BUT that person is gone forever, and often times was important, so now I'd have to go spend another forever finding and recruiting a decent replacement with the right perks, etc... To me it just felt like a massive FU to the respect of a gamers time investment. For a while I tried to play the scenarios with no deaths at all, but the frustration levels got so high I just gave up entirely.

damn are we the same person?!?! LOL. Same here. I tried it maybe 2/3 yrs ago and it was SO HARD I just gave up. And I too beat it as a kid!

Y'all should really go try the Ambrosia demo ....... that was super fun! Definite purchase for me now.

And @scaine - I had never heard of planet of lana, but due to your comment I took a look at the first game, and one of the top comments says "If your old enough to remember "another world" on the amiga, you will love this."

Insta buy.

Seems like it'd be neat on the Deck too.

Ahhhhh yes I see Microsoft hasn't changed one bit. Still on with their absolutely brain dead naming schemes for things. This is a marketing/pr NIGHTMARE of a name.

So .............. this is an xbox ............. that doesn't play xbox games .............. AND THE WEBSITE IS EVEN WORSE!!! It literally says "Xbox anywhere" ......... BUT YOU CANT PLAY ANY XBOX GAMES ON IT. AM I TAKING CRAZY PILLS?!?!?!??!

Xbox's are already a nightmare for family members to shop for due to the naming schemes. This is even worse now!!! I can just see Grandma and Grandpa going to get little Billy an xbox for christmas, and Grandpa goes "hey this xbox is portable! Billy can play in the car on the long road trips!"

Clockwork Revolution - YES. Absolutely loved Wasteland 3 so super hyped for this.

Neverwinter Nights 2 - going back to Faerun & the Forgotten Realms feels like going home. Comfy old school rpg goodness. Yes please.

Expanse game - It's owlcat. I'll buy anything they develop. Plus even past that, this has got major Mass Effect vibes which is just awesome.

Outer Worlds 2 - It's obsidian. I'll ALSO buy anything they develop. Avowed was AMAZING. Can't wait.

Ambrosia Sky - sounds/looks cool! Never heard of it, but there's a demo!!! Trying that out today.

Resonance - Plague Tale series is wonderful, so sign me up for more of a great thing. Yes please.

Garbage Country - looks like a perfect Deck game!

I finished 3 scifi books recently, and I just now checked, none of the authors list a discord anywhere on their sites. They all have the normal socials like fb/twitter/bluesky (I love that they're all on bsky, the only social platform I use!!)

YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This has been an extremely eagerly awaited game for me for what seems like FOREVER!!! I am so happy it has hit release! Trese are no joke some of the best devs out there, ever. I know this'll be a great success for them and couldn't be happier! I didn't have time to get into it last night, but hopefully this week I'll be able to do some testing. This is the type of game though that's so deep, I know it'll suck up all my limited gaming time!

the shapez series is about the only "city builder" (do you call it that?) that I have ever been able to get into. I think because it lacks fighting / uncontrollable aggression, and is just "go at your own pace and build cool stuff" which is exactly my style. Love shapez2 and eagerly awaiting full release!

@Corben - The Ascent is so good!!! It got a bit repetitive near the end, but damn did they do a fantastic job of world building.

Right now I'm playing some Oblivion, looking forward to getting into Tainted Grail after I'm done there.

But more importantly: Cyber Knights leaves early access this week so I can finally play it after this LONG wait!!! WOOOO!!!! Been looking forward to this for forever.
