They've done this once before with Xbox announcement a few years ago. Don't get your hopes up.
Team Cherry says they don't believe in saying much about the game/doing promo (other than a full-length trailer right when they started dev). Expect the next news to be a stealth drop.
Love to see the memes have carried over to the Linux community. We cope together.

Getting rid of the mob vote is one thing in a surprisingly growing list of improvements they've been listening to the community on over the last few years. Hiring one of the top redstoner/farm makers as a dev has really turned a lot around.
The frequent updates are going to upend things a bit I imagine. Even the more popular mods take several months to catch up, and I hardly know anyone who plays pure vanilla. But I'm sure we'll adapt somehow... or add it to the list of things to complain about. lol
It's only a matter of WHEN not IF they revamp the inventory... right? Right?! =,)

Whoa! When I switched to Linux four years ago I was resigned to never getting to mod (I know it's possible but I'm not super tech savvy and 50% of the time I break something). Cant wait for universal game support, I've been dying to mod Mass Effect but it's an older game so I doubt we'll see it added in alpha testing.
Huge thanks to the people putting in the work for us to have more accessible modding. ^_^

Between things like this and the high percentage of search results being AI-generated word-soup scam websites, I don't trust most websites' validity anymore. =/

I refuse to use any entertainment/software service that are only available via subscription. If something goes subscription only, then oh well, guess I didn't need it anyway. No tv, games, software (YES, even for work!), music, etc. I spend less money buying directly for artists/game devs anyway.
If you don't have the luxury of renting access to everything in life, you'll be okay without that content. I promise you, you can live a fulfilling and happy life without it. If you do have that privilege... well, your money, your choice. You vote with your wallet, as they say, so if you want to be perpetually renting your whole life, go for it.

Valve reveals a whole bunch of upcoming Steam Sales

Quoting: benstor214Why is the Autumn Sale so near to the Winter Sale (only 1 month apart)?Autumn Sale is Black Friday -> Winter is right around Christmas when everyone had gift cards to spend. I think they call them Autumn and Winter as a neutral way to appeal to their non-North American customer base. =)
In my opinion the Autumn Sale would be better situated in September - maybe it could swap places with the SHMUP Fest?
Just my two cents.
Valve marks some EA games Playable on Steam Deck again like Sims 4, Jedi: Fallen Order

According to the Steam community for many EA games including Andromeda and DA:I, even Windows users have been unable to launch their Steam games for weeks, though a few have found work-arounds that involve launching the .exe directly from the file directory. Not a fix for Linux/Proton users unfortunately (Unless there is, but I'm not tech-savvy enough to figure it out).
IF EA doesn't want to sell their games through Steam, they just need to remove them already.
Funnily enough, as of today Mass Effect Legendary launched with Origin (and updated to EA Play in seconds) and Andromeda is caught in the EA Play install purgatory, which causes me to have to force-reboot my computer just to close Steam, even when I try cancelling the install.
Obviously they stopped caring about Andromeda like a month after it launched, but it would be nice to have *some* consistency between their titles, as far as bloated launchers go. Pick one and stick with it!

Minecraft - The Wild Update is out now, Java & Bedrock now one purchase

If they did threaten to discontinue Java, the broader community would raise such a fuss that it wouldn't happen. The Linux community might not have much sway with developers, but such a large majority of Mojang's player base? They would completely tank without them.

Quoting: KristianSurely Microsoft has the redources to add all of the Java version festures to Bedrock right? So the missing features are hardly a guarantee of them keeping the Java version, right?Even if they tried, it would probably take them a decade to parity the features that are foundational to their biggest audiences. Hardcore mode, speedrunning, community modded... they said it's going to take another year just to get spectator mode in to Bedrock, and that's only one element they're missing to make Hardcore possible. Parity for speedrunners would require altering most of Bedrock's main gameplay mechanics. It's not just mirroring features, but how those features work that make the most popular Minecraft play styles possible. They've refused to mirror those mechanics so far, sooo...

People who are paranoid that Java is going to stop being developed and replaced by Bedrock do not spend a lot of time around Minecraft communities.
The dedicated part of the playerbase that sticks around and gathers communities/audiences always use features that are better suited for Java; be it hardcore mode (Bedrock doesn't have a hardcore mode!), redstone/technical builders, aesthetic builders (custom shaders/cinematic mods/ texture packs), speedrunners, or modders. Bedrock can only boast 'faster' loads, though Java has mods like Sodium/Phosphorus/Starlight that give good memory usage and high frame rates on potato computers.
TLDR; Most of the players that bring in millions of viewers/interest in Minecraft use Java specific features that Bedrock refuses to implement. Get rid of Java, and Microsoft will kill the majority of their audience and new players being brought in by people who use Java gameplay features.
