Quoting: AryvandaarThe fact that they aren't calling it Steam Linux is a testament to them not caring one bit for Linux as a whole.Valve loves Linux, and they're doing lots to help Linux. That's why they joined the Linux Foundation.

Surely making a Linux version of this game would not be that difficult since Minecraft is written in Java which means it runs inside a Java virtual machine. Java is supposed to be write once, run anywhere. Unless I'm missing something, I would be surprised if this game didn't end up on Linux.

This guy is either an idiot or he's paid by Microsoft. Or he left Valve on bad terms. I've seen his rants before about OpenGl and now he's dissing Linux gaming. The fact that he's knocking Steam Machines before they've even been released tells you everything.
Best to just ignore him.

Not really sure what you're on about jdub. Skype works perfectly well on Linux. Most people won't need to ever use PPA's or terminal commands and installing drivers takes about 3 clicks. I'm using Mint and the software center works smoothly. Also I'm not sure what you mean by Chrome plugins but if you mean extensions, then they're fully supported. Office software like Libre Office works well (more and more businesses are moving towards it and dropping Office) and Gimp should do just fine for 95% of people who want photo editing software.
You're obviously a Windows fanboy so don't try and pull that one on us. Sorry but I've seen too many people claiming to use and love Linux while trashing it at the same time.
