Steam Controller On Ubuntu, A Tweak You Need To Do

I think I will wait a bit until the issues get ironed out, and the crowd gets more enthusiastic about it, though this first batch will likely be collector one day :)
(Or end up like the old, fat xbox controllers :P )

Quoting: elgatilI got mine a few hours ago. The controller feels great though I agree with the Ars Technica article when they say the face buttons are an afterthought, they are small and awkwardly place. I am running fedora 22 and with the controller I am able to emulate mouse on the system, I never thought web browsing with a controller would that comfortable. My first guess would be that you are unable to write the firmware update to the device, which is required (AFAIK) when changing mode. Didn't the chmod 666 trick work for you ?
I was loving the controller till I run into some issues: apparently my steam controller cannot load gamepad profiles (keyboard+mouse profiles work just fin) so I cannot play any game which requires a gamepad (ahh, bitter irony :P ). Searching around it looks like I am not the only one with this issue and it happens in all platforms. Have you guys experienced something similar? Do you know of any workaround?
I am running Steam beta client and I sent a bug report about this (they ask me nicely to troubleshoot for them :) )

Quoting: liamdaweHonestly, it sounds like you don't really understand how software development works, I test a lot of games, and a lot of the time they flat out don't work because they are relying on dependencies you have installed. Bundling them stops that issue, there is also plenty of middleware that cannot simply by installed from a repo or by Steam. The list goes on for a while.Sure, but why not providing the library with the game, in the form of a shared object ? That way, if there's a bug in the version shipped with the game which is fixed in a later version, all you have to do is to delete the shipped .so (provided the library is installed on your system). I had to do this multiple times, and I occasionally had to use LD_PRELOAD to get some games to work.

I remember this game's trailer. It looks nice, but unfortunately not nice enough for me to buy it (too many games to play right now, and it is not exactly my favorite gametype).
It reminds me a bit of Monaco, but with better graphisms :)

Doom 4 :P
But any good FPS would be welcomed, too.
Maybe Saint's Row, then.
And I am still looking to get this Medieval II campaign finished.

Steam Controller Demo From Pax Prime With Valve Talking About It

Overall, that's not a really big deal. You can still play wired while your accumulators are charging on a plug behind the TV.

Quoting: miro@FutureSutureI think the issue is detecting whether the batteries can be charged or not -- Of course, from an electrical standpoint, charging batteries is not a big deal, but if the user puts in non rechargeable batteries and forgets to move the - hypothetical - switch, great damage could occur to the batteries, and thus the controller.
I didn't mean it that way - my idea was to have no proprietary battery pack built into the controller fore sure - I meant replaceable batteries of course, + the ability to recharge them via cable.
As a technician and with more than 500mA coming from any USB port I see no real reason why one would not be able to charge them. Surely, this requires some technology in there and a max. capacity allowed, but I'd see it as a benefit in any way.
But true, some built in pack that can not be replaced, is true BS, I was not even thinking about that

And this is not the most unevenly priced game...

Quoting: NyamiouPersonally, I'll never remember how much I've spend on video games on a month. I think you could ask the price range of the games ordered, with options like :As stated above, this would be quite unfair, given regional pricing, giving more or less weight to respondents depending on their location. Take for example Shadow of Mordor, according to SteamDB [External Link], the game costs $49.99 in the USA, $56.31 in Europe, and $13.32 in Russia :/
0-10$ (cheap games)
10-30$ (inexpensive games)
30-50$ (expensive games)
+50$ (very expensive games)
