Star wars ? (I'd take galactic battlegrounds, but it's not on their list). Battlefront ?
Maybe... COD ? I would pass my turn, then :/
C&C ? SupCom ? Again, I'm only quoting games I like...

Hi Liam !
That's indeed a good starting point toward a return !
I consult gamingonlinux.com on a daily basis : there are some great articles, tips, video casts, etc... The community here is great, we can have some good discussions. I miss your articles and your zeroday coverage, Liam :)
About Aspyr, now : Thank you, and thank you again for bringing us good games to run on our beloved Tux kernel :)
Your ports runs really well, you are quick to respond on the steam forums (I am patiently waiting for split screen co-op in BL [External Link]. I just have one remark : You don't port games fast enough !
What ? Ah, never mind : You port games faster than I finish them :D
So, while I am still finishing BL2, I would really like to add this "pre-sequel" to my game list, to play online with my friends (or splitscreen, who knows ?).

I would personally be interested in star wars galactic battlegrounds (with the extensions). I've spent so much time playing this game, it deserves a remake IMO. (IIRC, it's based on the AOE 2 engine, so I guess this would be feasible. I would play it even trough wine or eon.

This is disappointing. Some days ago, I was looking for a DRM Free version of world of goo that I could put on a USB stick to play it on the go... And even this HB doesn't provide a DRM free version. I already own this game multiple times on steam, as steam keys, even on the google play store; yet I don't fully own it -_-"
Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux

I think everyone already said this, but the reason I am using Linux are :
1) Rock-Solid stability (even for a rolling release like Arch, it's more stable than the Windows 7 beta that I used to use).
2) A good community. Very important point. I am not saying the community isn't great on windows, but most of the most interesting people already did the switch to Linux due to the others points...
3) Bleeding edge software, constant evolution, no backdoors. Most of the Linux ecosystem is open source, with all the advantages. Plus, Linux itself is free, and we have the freedow to do whatever we want with it.
4) It's free. Even if my school has a partnership with microsoft, I like the Idea that Linux is also free as in free beer.
5) Customization. A very important point. I used to customize windows a lot. Now I use KDE... Definitely another level.
6) The OS actually tells what it does, if the user wants to know. It is really easy to get a full glimpse at the Linux internals. And it's easy to learn, too.
7) Linux is used everywhere. Smartphones, servers, embedded systems, routers, switchs, supercomputers, scientific equipment... Definitely a plus to master a tool that is widely available, for free, to anyone, ant that is used by everyone...
8) No expiration date. Due to the open source nature of Linux, It will always be possible to make it run on recent machines, even if the software you want to run isn't ported to the most recent toolkit. If microsoft went to suddenly disappear, we couldn't say the same about the software that runs on windows. That's one of the big advantages of open source.
9) Many reasons I can't think of at the moment I am writing this post...

Universe Sandbox 2, A Physics Based Space Simulator Now In Alpha & On Linux

What a coincidence. I was playing the first one 2 days ago, since I came around a windows computer with my games installed on it (family sharing).
It was a good game (provided you like physics), but somewhat limited, and it had tendency to become boring to way too fast.
It looks like they have improved the graphics, and the computations, too, which is going to make this one much more interesting. In the first one, the simulations did not provide at all the same outcome, depending on the simulation speed.
I wonder, however, how this is going to work on opensource drivers, given that their openCL layer is not complete yet. Could be interesting for some benchmarks.
I will probably wait for a sale before buying it, though.

GOL Asks Again: What Have You Been Playing Recently?

I didn't play very much recently (due to my main rig not being at home), but I did some Serious Sam 3, and Kerbal Space Program. There is still the unity mouse bug in the last one, btw.
Liam, I had also the UI bugs in planetary annihilation, but with a little searching, I found 2 workarounds which ran quite good for me (I didn't tried it again since ~2 months, so I am not sure if it's still working).
I can't tell exactly how the patches worked (those are on my gaming rig), but one involved the edition of one of the UI files to relaunch the connection to the UI server, and the other one (which worked better IMO) was to use the -software-ui parameter, or whatever.
It's sad it doesn't runs well out of the box, though.

Quoting: edqeTime to drop legacy and open source driver support for now if Linux wants to be competitive with consoles and Windows.Oh, god, no ! The open source devs are making so much progress recently, I wouldn't be too surprised if we reached 4.5 (or at least 4.0) in less than 1 year. The BIG chunk of work is GLSL 1.50 (which is required by UE4 anyway).

Glad to hear that the issues are fixed. I experienced texture bugs, falling-trough-the-floor bugs, and some others with the UI disappearing
