Overwatch 2 with Season 20 has some very annoying crash-bugs on Linux / SteamOS
10 Dec 2025 at 10:07 am UTC

Wait. Is it the same bug I've been having for months, where every time the mouse cursor appeared/disappeared, the game had a random chance to crash? I posted about it on Reddit a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/s/oTYhDYeb1p [External Link]

It's been absolutely driving me crazy, I can't wait to get home and see if that's actually it

Multiple mice and keyboards, wow, I always thought something like this should be possible
My dream is that one day Wayland would allow multiple cursors kinda like how it worked on the Wii, and all the Windows users wouldn't believe their eyes lol

I remember when I was very, very young and my dad used to have a bunch of different Linux distro disks, one of them had World of Goo (demo?) on it and I loved it

Quoting: AltefierOverwatch deserves all the criticism it gets. I'm surprised how supporters of an open platform like Linux seem to be the least appalled by a company shutting down a game people paid money for, breaking all the promises they made about keeping the game fair for the future and replacing it with a "micro"transaction, pay-2-win hellhole that doesn't even have the PvE campaign that was supposed to be the entire reason for the appended "2" in the title.

It's an all-around disgusting release.
The game is literally just an update to Overwatch, they didn't shut down anything, they just made it free. Rocket League went free. PUBG went free. Are you mad about those too?
The game isn't pay to win because you can unlock every character for free.
The PvE was literally just added and it's good.

The only thing I can understand being mad about is the removal of lootboxes, but really? We actually want them in our games now ? Remember that Apex Legends locks some cosmetics behind $500 worth of lootboxes. Battle passes and $20 skins suck, but id rather have that than developing a gambling addiction over the tiny chance that a lootbox will give me something I actually want, when I know that 99.99% of the time I'll get something i don't care about.

I'm sad that it's getting review bombed so hard, I genuinely think it's a good game, and this new update is awesome. I especially don't get why people are STILL mad about PvE, like it's literally there now, they added it

Quoting: CyborgZetaThis is very cool, although I own few N64 games now compared to back when I was a kid. Being able to play my Conker's Bad Fur Day and Majora's Mask cartridges again would be neat though, I suppose.

Personally, I'd love to see something like this for PlayStation 2 some day. I have such a huge PS2 library, and with PS2 emulation still being far from perfect, being able to fall back on discs would be quite welcome. My PS2 I got back in 2005 still works; heck, I played .hack on it as recently as 2020...but I'd like to leave it retired. These days, I generally prefer using emulators whenever possible, although I have been playing on a Dreamcast I acquired recently.
You can do that already in PCSX2, it lets you either rip the ROM from the disc or boot the actual game off the disc
