Distro news: Arch gets a new leader and Manjaro has a new release

Quoting: JanneSomebody else has at least briefly tested the updates before you get them. Reduces the chance of breakage.
Arch has a testing repo and its packages are tested. It's not unusual to wait several weeks between major kernel versions, for example. And Mesa 20 has not yet hit the main repos because it's still in testing.

QuoteIf you wish to pick up a copy of their latest game, Godhood, you can do so on GOG and Steam. Their other games are up there too.
Both links point to GOG.
Also saw that and fixed it :)

Stellaris 2.4 is out with the new Paradox Launcher included

Quoting: HoriI find it very weird when games have launchers. Obviously I just want to play the damn game, why should I go through 2 launchers (steam + the game launcher) to get to it? For most people it is a useless step, and for the others, those things can just be put in the game itself.
There are several reasons why a launcher is beneficial from both a gamer standpoint and for the developers. For one, it allows users to select and deselect any number of mods and DLC as to my liking. For PDS games, in particular, this is handy as there's a very active modding community for nearly all their titles. You must also remember that the games are being sold on various storefronts and giving a uniform experience to those on GOG is as important as those on Steam, Paradox's actual store launcher, EGS etc. I've seen developers chime over the past few weeks in their official forums that this is also hoped to help with online matchmaking and friendlists across the different storefronts in the future.

For the record, I'd also like a skip launcher option but it's just a single extra click if I'm not changing up mods so it doesn't bother me that much.

Quoting: eldakingToday they released a hotfix for EU4 that supposedly fixes the issue. I won't be able to try for a while (not today, maybe not until Saturday), but I assume it will be fixed for next release.

Just tried after the hotfix and it seems to work just fine :)

One of our favourite games Slay the Spire is getting even better on Linux with a new beta up

Quoting: RoosterSo I played this game once, beat it on my first playthrough and it was.. good, but not good enough that it would make me want to do a second playthrough with different character.

Do you think I'm missing out? Does the second character (the one you unlock after first time beating it) make it better? I know he makes it harder and you have to go for a different deck, but that alone doesn't sound so tempting to me.

I think so, yes. You can't really beat the game with a single character anyhow. The actual ending requires beating it with all three characters and a final section. The different characters aren't harder or easier, just different. Each have several play styles, especially as you unlock more cards and relics. Half of the fun for me is having different strategies with different types of cards and relics. Obviously your mileage may vary but I think that it's the sort of game that becomes more entertaining the more you become familiar with the various mechanics and possibilities.

Fixed, darn copy paste!

Hopefully it'll be up on GOG soon. I hadn't noticed. It's unfortunately too often the case with them that they take a while to get Linux builds up.

Quoting: saffyreSorry for the stupid question, but.. if the game is Windows-only, how are we supposed to get the game files on Linux or Mac? I own the game, but it won't install on my laptop via Steam, because it just complains that I'm on an "invalid platform." Is there any way to do this without owning a Windows machine?
One of three ways:
1) Use the SteamCMD tool.
2) Right click on the game in the library, go to properties and tick "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" (doesn't matter which since you only need the game data) and you'll be able to install it.
3) Enable Steam Play for all Windows titles in Steam->Settings->Steam Play

Can we please keep discussion on the subject of Cthulhu saves the world and its unofficial port? If you want to discuss what is DRM or not, use the forums. No more weird rape analogies or whatever else please.

I picked this one up on Steam about a week ago and I've sunk in about five hours. The performance for me has been solid and I haven't noticed many dips below 60fps with everything turned up at 1080p. This is on a 2700x and RX480 with Mesa 19.1. There was some shader compilation stutter but it's been an overall smooth and interesting experience. Thankfully there's a demo you can try out, the performance didn't really vary for me between that and the full build.
