Valve doesn't need much to make a Steam Deck 2 a huge success

I don't think we need a Steam Deck 2, as in we don't need a Steam Deck that uses an entirely new APU from AMD. But we do need something like a Steam Deck "mini", or a Steam Deck "Pro" with increased battery and better screen. The Nintendo DS "Phat" came out in November 2004, and DS Lite came out in March 2006, so this type of practise is completely normal in the world of handhelds and has been going on for years; the Steam Deck should be no different.

A lot of people will disagree with me, but personally, I would like to see Valve make a Steam Deck that has detachable controllers, kinda like the Switch's Joy-Cons, but a lot more sturdy and wobble-free, when attached (like, you can literally lock them to the sides with screws).

Why? Because then you could have the option to have the default large Steam Deck, where the side controllers have the trackpads, etc, or you could buy slimmer, 3rd party ones, that makes the entire thing more pocketable. The bezels around the screen would also need to be heavily reduced, too. I think such a design would be a lot easier to tear down and get to the internal guts, battery, NVME, etc, because you wouldn't have to worry about the controller motherboard bits getting in the way; you can just pop those off, and remove the backplate from the "tablet portion".

CryoUtilities 2.0 helps boost Steam Deck performance

I'm guessing Cryo is already gainfully and happily employed elsewhere (and there are probably other reasons why he can't join Valve), but still... Valve should at least try to reach out to hire him, with an offer he'd be hard pressed to refuse. I'm sure Pierre, Lawrence, Greg and co. would love to have him on the Steam Deck dev team.

iFixit begin offering Steam Deck SSD upgrades

Personally, I prefer just using Micro SD's. It basically feels like the PC equivalent of physical media. I have 3 512 GB Micro SD's and I swap them out, like I would with Nintendo DS cartridges, depending on the game and roms I wish to play.

Gamescope (used on Steam Deck) adds in some VR support

Could be Deckard related, or simply them getting VR to work smoothly with Steam OS. If they want Steam OS to be a viable alternative to Windows for gaming, they need to get VR working properly with it.

It would be a great way to showcase PCVR at events or at VR arcades as well. It would make the experience a bit more simple, like PSVR, without having to deal with the jank of windows.

ASUS stick an OLED display into a controller, Dell want to reinvent it

Just wait for the Steam Controller 2, imo. Would also be cool if Valve let us use our Decks as a controller, somehow, like a Wii U GamePad for our PC.

Neon Prime from Valve is reportedly a third-person shooter close to release

Besides Tyler McVicker's horrible takes on the Steam Deck, most of which he has done a U turn on and now likes the Steam Deck a lot, I do trust him when it comes to certain information about Valve's upcoming projects.

Stadia refunds are starting to begin, no word on Controller Bluetooth yet

Stadia: "Stadia runs on Linux, thus technically all of our games are Linux ports!"
Linux Community: "Cool, so that means Stadia will help Linux development, and you'll port games..."
Stadia: "No, f*ck you."
(2022: Stadia is now dying; it's smoldering body crawls the surface, grasping for life)

Linux Community: "No. F*ck you!" (blasts Stadia's head to pieces)

AMD announce RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT, plus FSR3 teased

Just happy to see Steam Deck up on these press conference stages. Really helps to make Destiny 2 and MW2 not being playable on Steam OS look ridiculous.

Persona 5 Royal is a great Steam Deck experience

60 fps is a big reason to get it on Steam Deck over the Switch.
But another big reason, at least for me, is the potential for mods.

An interview with the creator of Deckmate, the Steam Deck attachment system

I like the idea of using it to snap an external battery pack to the back.

But it makes me wish to see a company just make a svelte and sleek battery pack that snaps on to the back of the Deck, and matches the black colour, etc, in such a way it looks like it's actually part of the Steam Deck.
