Steam users redeemed over $80 million in physical wallet cards in December 2023

Am I the only person who can't even find the physical wallet cards anywhere? All of the places that they list as UK stockists don't seem to actually carry them!

Like so many geeks, I'm frequently told that I'm difficult to get gifts for on traditional gift-giving occasions (and I always say they don't need to worry about it, and on it goes ) - physical Steam cards actually being available would be kind of helpful.

Quoting: Craggles086Capcom Arcade Stadium is now Steam Deck verified.

1942 and Commando can both be stretched to fill up the screen. Almost makes it feel like you are playing on the C64.

Think some of the sequels to 1942 can be played this way.

Have also been enjoying Skyforce and Skyforce Reloaded. Both vertical shooters.
Unfortunately, Capcom has been going back and adding undeclared DRM ("The Enigma Protector") to their older releases, and that includes Capcom Arcade Stadium and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium. I was enjoying them until that, though!

Just when I thought there wasn't much else that could be done with Sokoban, now there's this.

It's kind of a pity that there's not, say, a "Steam Deck Pocket", as this is the sort of game that's ideal for quick bursts on a smaller handheld. Maybe we'll see it come to the Evercade as one of its native titles, at some point? It looks like it'd fit right in on one of their Indie Heroes compilation cartridges! (Though I have no idea if Godot supports the Evercade Linux.)

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI should have thought of that. I'll check it out, thanks!
No problem. Sorry I didn't provide a clue as to where it is - I don't know what desktop-environment you're using, and it's been so long since I messed with it I can't remember right off where it is on my own, haha! (Something at the back of my mind is saying it's found in Settings > Mouse and Touchpad on Mint Xfce, but I'm not 100% sure on that!)

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBut sometimes when a crumb or something gets on the screen and I go to flick it off, that does something and I'm like "argh, bloody touch screen!"
That really threw me when I first got my GPD Win Max 2021 - and it's even more annoying there, because you still have to manually set display rotation for it in Linux (it's one of so many handhelds with a 1280x800 or 1280x720 display, where the panel is a mobile one bolted on sideways and of course reports as 800x1280/720x1280), and when you do that, the touch inputs don't rotate with it!

Luckily, there's usually an option to disable the touch, anyway, and that was what I did - might be worth looking for.

Quoting: Craggles086Unfortunately not enough in this category on Linux or anything else.
I've been digging into emulated PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 titles for this, in recent times - that console had a ludicrous amount of shooters to its name (still the most of any console ever, to my knowledge), and many excellent vertical ones are among them. I'm quite fond of Star Parodier [External Link] and Blazing Lazers [External Link], myself.

Love Snow Bros.! It's a shame that the remake of the first game didn't come to Steam*, though the upcoming remake of the second will be.

*That said, the emulated arcade original is available on one of the Toaplan cartridges for the Evercade console, which is a Linux-based platform.

but it's probably also a good time to step in and reassure those of you capable of reading past a headline that it is fine to take breaks from games. You don't need to feel bad about that.
There are so many amazing games out there to play; you don't need to feel guilty about hopping from game to game.
How utterly refreshing to see a representative saying that it's ok to play video games as you want and not be suckered in by predatory "engagement" tactics/predatory monetisation that's literally unregulated gambling/etc..

I've been digging into the (Linux-based) Evercade [External Link] line a bit more! I was playing the 1981 Data East maze-chase arcade game Lock 'n' Chase [External Link] this morning, and it's a really nice variant on the Pac-Man style of maze-chase game, for the era.

I should be taking delivery of the Sunsoft Collection 1 [External Link] cartridge later today, which has a bunch of greats, but is a special one for me because it contains the only Bomberman game currently available on the platform, Blaster Master Boy [External Link] (which is in fact Bomber King Scenario 2 - part of a spin-off branch of the Bomberman series).
