Did this fix something you were having problems with? Or is there something you're desperate to see fixed? Let me know in the comments. This is all just gravy, for me! The last few updates seem to have fixed the frequent annoying issues I was having with Desktop Mode, so everything is now smooth sailing - anything else is just a nice-to-have, at this point.

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderAll your base are belong to us..... [External Link]Somebody set up us the bomb! And it wasn't any of my robots this time.
Quoting: Linux_RocksPlay Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun. Also any CAVE shmups are good too. Along with the Raiden series.Alas, I'm too old for my reflexes to be any good for a lot of these, hahaha!  My absolute limit is Super Star Soldier [External Link].
Quoting: NodMy favorites at the arcades were Xevious, 1942, Slap Fight, Sky Shark, Twin Cobra, 1943, Truxton, Twin Hawk and Raiden.I love Xevious and 1942. The rest, I haven't played yet (well, I have played 1943, but unlike many I prefer 1942). I've been having a good time with some of the shooters on the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 of late - my favourite one there, by far, is Star Parodier [External Link].
Quoting: NodWhen the arcades changed the price from 20c to 40c I just stopped playing. You should've seen how insane the UK prices got - they went from 20p up to £1, £2, or higher!

Just wanted to say thanks for this because, aside from knowing of Darius Cozmic Collection from other platforms (and not knowing it was on Steam), I didn't know about any of these releases at all. Thanks much!

I've really been digging into some shooters this last week, enough so to finally have a preference for vertical ones*, so I may well end up picking up Tiger Heli, from this selection.
*That said, I did enjoy the Mega Drive version of Zero Wing, and still need to pick up the Steam re-release of the arcade one.

Quoting: elmapulin other words, companies like valve target the most profitable markets, while smaller companies target the markets that valve isnt interessed yet...No, that's not what it means at all. Valve is leading the charge in targetting Linux-gaming, which is a market that companies keep passing up - the Steam Deck is also an example of the "Crappy products for crappy customers." approach to disruption, and now we're seeing other companies wanting to follow and offer more of that now that it's sold what's believed to be millions.
Quoting: elmapulit makes me think if valve money isnt involved here, like if they purchase actions in the stock market and are using it to test the waters, with an smaller brand that wont hurt they reputation if it fails (like white labeling it)That's doubtful - Ayaneo has been making handheld gaming-PCs since before Valve was.
Quoting: Liam DaweUpdated with AYANEO statement, it's HoloISO, not partnership with Valve.Aw, I was hoping to hear something from Valve about this today! Still, it doesn't detract from how interesting and potentially important of a development this is - that all remains the same regardless.
Palworld is Pokémon with guns, farming, survival and building - I'm quite excited

(And yes, there was a Bomberman entry in that genre [External Link].)

Quoting: Liam DaweIt always strikes me as odd whenever there’s a monster catcher, people immediately wonder about Nintendo. You can’t own the entire concept. This comes up every time. Unless they literally rip Pokemon directly, it’s just another game.Though Pokemon certainly popularised it, there's also the fact that Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc. actually didn't create that genre in the first place - you want the collective of Dragon Quest V (Super Famicom, 1992), Megami Tensei (Famicom, 1987), and Robotrek (SNES, 1994) for that!

The "Blue Ocean Strategy" has a term for this, and it's how all market disruption starts: "Crappy products for crappy customers.". That's not crappy as in low-quality, but rather "crappy" as in the big players in the market rejected them and refuse to cater to them even though there's a ready-made market just waiting to hand over their money (the fact that Linux gaming recently overtook Mac gaming, but we're still seeing companies refusing to support Linux whilst making large concessions for MacOS also plays into this).
The lack of certain features isn't a problem, either, for that reason - in fact, some more "Lite" options are likely to help adoption (as well as hopefully cover regions where the Steam Deck is not yet available).

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderKind of spooky..... We were just talking about something like this the other day........Now let's see how much else of what we discussed shows up here.
Quoting: MohandevirLow cost, entry level handheld with SteamOS... Direct competitor to the Steam Deck... I was expecting a high end SteamOS based handheld... Would have made more sense, imo. Unless they aim to sell it where the Steam Deck is unavailable? The high-end SteamOS handheld is the Steam Deck. Really, though, this makes perfect sense, but only assuming it's as low-cost as the literature so far implies.
I'll be surprised if they are able to match the Steam Deck price brackets.

Now THAT's more like it! Ayaneo has been in this game for quite a while, and it's nice to see them not pitching a hissy-fit like GPD did.
I'll be interested in seeing how they price it. If this does well, we could end up seeing further disruption* of the marketplace, with any luck.
*Disruption in the Blue Ocean Strategy sense, for anyone who's familiar with that.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumI have to ask, how do people justify allowing a video game absolute total control over their computer at the kernel-level?In addition to what's already been said by LoudTechie and damarrin above, there are also folks who'll knowingly put up with it in the hopes of making a competitive career out of it. I was in that scene once, albeit with some different (non-PC) games, and it's really quite shocking what some folks will tolerate and sacrifice in the hope of brief fame for being good at a video game.
How does one justify that is a good thing to have? It is a rootkit.
Regardless if you use Windows, Linux or the other one it just sounds like a bad idea. I can't help but feel the reason these companies won't do this for Linux is simple: They know most Linux users would reject it, and refuse to use the game anyway.
But it still begs the question, why are some people accepting of this?
