Dolphin Emulator devs give up on Steam release

There've been some very good indie spiritual-successors lately! Pizza Tower [External Link] and Ex-Zodiac [External Link] have been particular highlights for me, since Nintendo stopped bothering with Wario Land and Star Fox a long time ago.

but some elements from the Steam release will still be continued like the big screen interface that can be used directly with a gamepad. That's good news, at least. Dolphin already has an excellent, clear interface, and it'll be nice to have a gamepad-friendly equivalent going forward - that's been one of the only things that I felt was missing.
Quoting: BelaptirVery few companies go so far to screw their customers as Nintendo goes. And even fewer have a fanbase as fervorous when it comes to defend it as Nintendo does.Even when I was a fan myself, I was never happy with that status-quo - it was difficult to have sensible conversations about what the business got right or wrong, to say the least!
Quoting: BelaptirI loved Nintendo games, but enough is enough and one day I had enough of their BS so it's been years now since last time I bought a Nintendo game.Sounds like we're in the same boat, as that's the direction that I took a bit shy of two years ago (I mentioned that in the previous Dolphin news-thread, though). Turns out that the grass really was greener on the other side, thankfully!
Quoting: BelaptirNot a single day passes without my friends calling me a hater because I don't accept Nintendo's BS and instead point it out every time they screw customers. Apparently, having someb principles means being a sad troll that only wants to hate Nintendo because it's mainstream.Funnily enough, I've had the opposite experience amongst my gaming friends, many of whom I met via Nintendo's games. We've all ended up similarly disillusioned for similar reasons, so we just reminisce about the good games we grew up with, whilst sharing word on new non-Nintendo titles of interest.

Quoting: Liam DaweI usually announce it via Discord [External Link] and all the other social networks I'm on like Mastodon [External Link] and Twitter [External Link]. No set schedule for livestreams as I'm not a big fan of doing them so they're just as and when really. But there's a dedicated channel for it in the Discord. Thanks! Unfortunately I don't use any of those, so I guess I'll have to be more vigilant with checking YouTube! As-and-when is understandable - I watch a few channels that do that, and I think that's just part of the fun.

Be sure to go follow GamingOnLinux on YouTube! The channel recently hit 40K!I've been subscribed for a while, but I was just wondering if there's an easy way to know if there'll be a GOL stream coming up? YouTube's system isn't enough, so I always seem to miss them!

Being able to see Deck status like this is a really handy feature! I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it, since when I get mine I know that I'll be inclined to curate what's on it. I guess that it's also useful if you have a really old Steam library with a lot of stuff, too?

What a fantastic documentary that was - lots of interesting information, as well as lots of cool period footage to add character.
Speaking of funny, a number of the anecdotes in the interview were very amusing, too - I had a good laugh about how one of the characters in the game is meant to be the ghost of an old woman who liked stealing shopping-trolleys when she was alive!
Noclip spoke with the original creator Luca Galante, who is quite a private person and didn't want to be on camera and so they made a fun Muppets-style Dracula puppet with Galante giving it a voice over. Quite a sweet and clever way to get around it.This was adorable, charming, and funny.

This looks and feels like a game from another time, and I mean that in the best possible way - I'm very much reminded of the likes of Another World and Heart of Darkness, but modernised. Wishlisted.

Quoting: tuubiMint jumps on the next Ubuntu LTS base. Nothing dramatic.Ohh! Thanks! I totally misunderstood, and misread it as meaning that they'd be migrating away from using Ubuntu as a base entirely!

Until 2024 they will continue to use the same Ubuntu package base, so upgrades will be "trivial" to do.Not a Mint user, but just curious what will happen after this?

Windows 11 was just too much for me to handle, and after reading about Lutris I was ready to jump. My Steam Deck already showed me that most of my games would run on Linux, so I wasn't worried there; just wanted to know that most of my GOG games would work.

Quoting: KlaasRiver City Girls seems to be a lot worse than Pengling's choice (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge) – at least the graphics are nice.Heheheh. Honestly, I might've been a bit more tempted if it had been River City Girls Zero instead, which is a previously-untranslated SNES game from 1994 (Shin Nekketsu Kouha: Kunio-tachi no Banka [External Link]), as I'm fond of the original release of the game (I still have the cartridge hanging around, even).
