Whoops.
Totally forgot about GOL in all my praise towards Aspyr Media. :)
GOL is, of course, the best non-Windows gaming source out there. You guys write great articles (thanks for posting a news-piece about Platinum Arts Sandbox, btw. My colleagues loved it), the community is friendly and constructive and the bare bone's design of GOL itself simply rocks.
Rock on!

As a *nix user in general (I game on both, GNU/Linux and Mac OS X), I can't thank Aspyr enough.
They brought some great AAA games to the table and their ports have always been rather top notch.
I also love the fact that they work closely with the publishers, allowing the Linux/Mac releases to be released through the same channels (Owning the game on Steam is rather important to me) the Windows originals are released through.
Kudos, you guys! Thanks for the ports, may there be many more.

Why I love IndieBox:
IndieBox reminds me of the glorious days of DOS games. Back when many of today's AAA developers were still small and some of them, like former iD legend John Carmack, didn't even own their own computers, having to haul them in from their workplace during the weekends. Back when games were still mostly published by individuals or smaller companies, but came in decently sized big boxes with beautiful swag catering to fans of the game.
Those were simpler times. Way back when most people were still on dialup and people went to the nearest game-store to grab themselves a hardcopy of their favourite gaming magazine, just so they may find out about the games coming out in the next few months.
IndieBox is like this. An elegant product, for a more civilized age :)

Pathetic Earthlings reminds me of Flash Gordon (Ming the Merciless). However, it also reminds me of this older console exclusive title

The image shown for this game also reminds me of the game's art style.

Thanks for the very nice writeup, Liam.
Once I've set up an appropriate dev environment and we are ready to push out the first alpha release, I'll make sure to send you guys additional material.
I'm primarily responsible for the future Mac version as well as dealing with the *nix community as a whole (we want to really embrace our inner Penguins, Demons and Platypuses -- Platypi?)
However, as I have a GNU/Linux background (been running it on different boxes since 2001) I also plan on helping out with the Linux side of coding and packaging.

Being rather bored last night (nothing but soccer on TV), I started writing a small launcher and configuration tool.
I don't have anything to show for yet, but will keep you guys updated.
It's going to be written in Python, utilizing wxWidgets.
