Wait, if they're walking back the install fee, why do devs still need to "Self-report" installs?

Heroic Games Launcher 2.9.2 Hotfix #2 is live

I'm still hoping that one day HGL will add itch.io support, cause then you'd basically only need two launchers on windows, steam and HGL.

On linux it would be three launchers, since HGL doesn't really have a WINE prefix management settings interface for games that don't come from any of these sources (for abandonware games and such) as in depth as Bottles or Lutris unfortunately. But still, it's closer to perfecting a secondary launcher than anything else I know, since Lutris still has trouble downloading amazon games and HGL doesn't.

Irdeto is a cancer on this industry and anyone who paid for games that use their software should be ashamed of themselves, because now they have the funding to create what is essentially an anti-modding tool.

I just want them to ensure SteamVR is as good as it is on windows. Last I used it, it was still lacking core functionality like motion smoothing, SteamVR Home SDK, and camera passthrough, At least on Nvidia cards. Here's hoping deckard is really gonna release and fix up some of this stuff.

Quoting: bisbyxI wanted a mindless diving game. The restaurant minigame had enough complexity (or at least perceived complexity in the moment) that it made me put it down, because I didn't want to think too hard. Haven't picked it back up yet, though I intend to eventually.
It's not that complex, but I can see how it would seem daunting, I suppose.
-Hire some NPCs to serve and cook for you faster. All you personally should be focused on is refilling the Wasabi during operating hours and pouring drinks, your staff will handle the rest, you only should be serving dishes yourself if you're already heading in that direction and it's on the way.
-Sort your dish menu by price, and leave it that way.
-Any time you have an excess of one type of fish, upgrade it.
-Special days for certain types of food will get you more cash, prep ahead of time in your diving expeditions.
-Do the side missions, they get you new dishes, among other things.

That's about as complex as it is at least where I am in the game, this game is wonderful in that it continues to slowly dripfeed more mechanics as the game goes along to the point where more than once I've been like "Wait, there's more? Nice." which I appreciate, so I don't know if more mechanics get added later.

NVIDIA driver 535.43.02 Beta for Linux updates Wayland support, new Vulkan extensions

Nice, Nvidia wayland fixes are really important and welcome. I wonder if the h264/h265 video decoding things are gonna result in better proton compatibility too for videos.

Comet is an open source implementation of GOG Galaxy SDK that needs testing

The big question here is if Comet handles GOG Galaxy's multiplayer functionality. [External Link] That's the only thing I'm really missing that I'm unsure if Heroic covers already. I don't really care about achievements that much by comparison.

Quoting: TheRiddickI wonder if there is some sort of DRM/Copy Protection going on that is gobbling up the CPU cycles?

Doesn't have Denuvo does it?
It does, in fact, have denuvo. [External Link]

Imagine my shock that a poorly performing PC port once again uses that shitty DRM.

AMD detail more on FSR 3 and their new open source FidelityFX SDK

Quoting: GuestI will laugh if after this nvidia shows up and says "you know what, dlss 3 is actually possible on rtx 2000 series" because it will be the last chance to push this proprietary nonsense on people
Would be nice. The situations in which one would even "need" DLSS 3 extend pretty much to older cards that are getting into their grey hair years, DLSS 3 would give them a new lease on life. If you have a 4000 series card, it has enough raw horsepower that the situations in which DLSS 3 is necessary are slimmer in quantity.

Quoting: intensciaScott here creator of mod.io. Thanks for the support - open source plugins, with true cross-platform support is our end goal!
Honestly, as much as I like steam workshop and how easy it is for users to create mod collections with it for people to one click and get a server's entire mod list, the fact that you miss out on that if you buy a game on GoG or itch.io always bothered me, so thanks for making something that's actually decent and cross platform. I like that you can download and delete mods without closing your game when devs implement mod.io.

While I think some people have poor implementation of mod.io sometimes (like how Bonelab has no search function or categorization beyond alphabetically listing every mod ever uploaded in a repository) as far as I'm aware that's not really mod.io's fault and is more on the developer to make a decent search function.

Please do whatever you can to encourage categorization and good search implementations if it is in your power to do so, cause that's basically my only real complaint with mod.io right now.
