Alright, I know the drill, buy the original versions before they get delisted in case there's something new that's wrong with the re-release/remaster either on a technical polish level, an artistic level, breaks old mods, or even simply adds unwanted DRM/Anticheat, as tends to be the case.

Quoting: PyreticFrom my understanding, Basically, one of the reasons that valve isn't selling steam controllers anymore, and are if I'm not mistaken currently in a patent lawsuit with SCUF over having back paddles in the controller, is because SCUF have been known to patent troll people a lot, and this is why back paddles in control schemes are not yet standardized, since they own a patent on "Rear-side control surfaces". [External Link]Quoting: WMan22SCUF patentOut of the loop, what's the SCUF patent?

Heck yeah finally people making handhelds other than lenovo legion go are starting to understand how necessary the dual touchpads are. That being said, I don't see back paddles on this so this is going to lead to some awkwardness.
Yes, I'm aware of the SCUF patent, I'm really not happy about it, to the point that recently I had an opportunity to buy a SCUF controller and didn't because of that.

The gesture is appreciated, but I mainly intend on playing OG Skyrim on my deck if I ever end up playing Skyrim again, since modding games with a mod manager is one of the very small few pain points left on Linux and Steam Workshop mitigates this.

Where we should really be putting blame is on just a few individuals within humanity in upper echelons inside a military industrial complex who gain capital whenever there's a war thus are financially incentivized to continually send us into them, additionally, in regards to environmentally related things people would all switch to eco friendly options for things like transportation tomorrow if it was genuinely more affordable. You'd have some holdouts who held onto gas guzzlers out of stubborn tradition, but frankly if people are able to live more affordably with an eco friendly option they wouldn't hesitate to do it in a second.
It's like blaming the pawn for a king and queen's poor decisions. It's not really the pawn's fault that they're limited to moving and defeating other chess pieces in the most inefficient ways possible, and the game doesn't end out of empathy and respect for the loss of a pawn, only when the king is gone. That's just the way the game is designed by forces above the pawn's control.
...So how about that Linux gaming, huh? Pretty neat how much progress is being made right?

Quoting: tuubiI've always hated the cynical "we as humans are really bad" rhetoric with a passion, it implies there's collective blame to be had for all of humanity, that we never learn anything when clearly if you have people saying "hey can we stop this war shit" that's not the case, as someone is recognizing an issue that has plagued us and wants to put an end to it, thus making it not the fault of "humans" but individuals.Quoting: GuestThere's never been a decade without wars. We humans are a miserably warlike bunch. But I guess "worse" is when it affects us personally.Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääPlease, stop these wars everywhere.. Just put down your weapons. Please.Expect more wars in the coming decade. It will get worse

Lutris game manager v0.5.14 adds EA App integration, expanded Flatpak support
20 Oct 2023 at 11:20 pm UTC
So say a game needs an extra protontricks install like d3dcompiler_47 or something, [External Link] assuming a user put in a report, lutris will be like "oh we see there's a problem with this game that requires winetricks/protontricks intervention; here's an option to automatically install this steam game with d3dcompiler_47 inside the prefix automatically so you don't have to worry about that" so games "just work" if you choose to install them through lutris, as opposed to "shit, this isn't working even with GE-Proton, what do I do?"
In some cases, like how right now if you install The Suffering from GOG, or Soldier of Fortune, it'll suggest a third party community patch for the game that fixes some major bugs or fixes resolution issues.
But again, people do need to be creating scripts and submitting them on a per game basis to the lutris website to tell lutris to do this. It doesn't "just do it" by default.

Quoting: ripperPerhaps a stupid question, but what's the purpose of adding your Steam games to Lutris? Steam already has Proton integration, so what's the benefit? When Lutris supports protontricks, users can create a script that automatically suggests protonfixes.

The reason this sounds so bad is because I believe this excuse is the honest truth when they say it.
After all, if so few people are reading it, who's gonna notice when you delete it to fuck people over, right? I mean that's how I'd think if I was an evil CEO like John Riccitiello.
so really, no matter which way you slice this post, whether you approach it from the angle of "A LEGAL DOCUMENT ISN'T A YOUTUBE VIDEO YOU HAVE TO PROMOTE IN THE ALGORITHM TO JUSTIFY IT'S EXISTENCE YOU ABSOLUTE CRETINS" or "So you deleted something important because you thought there weren't enough people to raise hell about it", it's a bad excuse.
